My family and I just came back from WDW yesterday and we all had a wonderful time. However, it seems like something bad or disappointing has to happen at least once while we're there, and this trip was no exception. I have to say though, this has got to be my worst experience by far.
My sister and her husband have been renting two scooters before every trip (one for their family, the other for my parents and I) since roughly two years ago. My mother has a very bad heart condition, along with a condition in her legs that causes them to go numb/collapse if she walks too much. My sister also has a horrendous heart condition, much worse than my mother's, and she's only in her thirties. Needless to say, the scooters are very helpful.
As we approached our bus stop to Epcot and got in the wheel chair line, my sister's husband had forgotten to bring their medication with them (he also suffers from anxiety attacks), so he took his scooter to run back to the room to retrieve them, leaving my parents, sister and I waiting with the other scooter. A woman and who I can assume to be her daughter/relative pull up in a scooter behind us shortly after he left, and my father made SURE to tell her that there was another scooter in front of us that had to retrieve medication. She said it was okay. I repeat, she said it was okay.
So some time had passed, and my brother-in-law comes back. Not long afterwards, this woman began to become disgruntled and complain: "You know, this isn't very fair. It's like you're cutting in line and cheating us. He has to get in the back of the line and you two are just going to have to separate, it's what you have to do sometimes." We tried reminding her that she said it was all right not too long ago and emphasize that he had to retrieve important medication, but she just kept on going.
The bus eventually arrives and the woman doesn't hesitate to send her daughter or whomever it was to the front to speak with the bus driver. She brings him over and begins to loudly complain to him that we cut in front of her, that we're liars, cheaters, among other things, and at this point we were baffled and trying to stay composed (I seriously wanted to pop her!). However, the bus driver said that since we're at the front, we were going to get on first, and at this point she was fuming.
I kid you not, this woman was screaming, cursing, and giving us the finger as we loaded our scooters onto the bus. She even GAVE US A DEATH THREAT. "I hope the bus crashes, burns, and you all die!" We were all feeling pretty bad about ourselves, not because we did anything wrong, but because she thought so maliciously of us.
However, we were feeling pretty better on our way to the park. The bus driver was very kind to us and even apologized about her actions and told us not to worry about it, and quite a number of passengers - especially those with children - were complaining about how she reacted and how inappropriate she was. We made some new friends and we all joked about how "awful" we were, and so on.
We saw her quite a number of times while at the park, and ironically she was behind us again that evening after IllumiNations had ended. She had to wait for another bus, but this time she kept her tongue, as far as I was aware.
So yeah, that's my disastrous story. :lookaroun I made this thread to hopefully share some not-so-pretty stories, to console, to laugh, and the like.
