Backlot Tour Closing?

I say get rid of it but leave the Catastrophe Canyon part as a stand alone attraction thing. That way there is tons of room to expand plus the best bit of the tour and a bit of park history is preserved.

so you would get on a tram for a 25 second practical effects view?
Add some screens in there to explain the whole process a bit more to make it a few minutes longer and yeah. What's wrong with that? Adds some capacity with a quick turnover. I'd rather this than absolutely nothing to be fair.

Post #2000 Yay

Do they even do this anymore? I rode the tour three times in 2011 and every single time we were ushered straight past the Pearl Harbour thing straight in to the trams.
I rode in early 2013 and they still had the Pearl Harbour part. Maybe just that part of the ride was closed for refurb or it was broken.

That happened to us in March. We waited on the queue ramps, then were ushered into the water effects area. Then suddenly we were all moving again toward the trams. There were hosts on the "stage" and we saw a family getting dressed to be in the next show....but no show for us. Made no sense, and there was no explanation.

It died when the houses were removed for a car stunt show.
It might have died then, but it was put on life support when they closed the studio. After that it was being run just because it was there and it was the only way to get to CC. I'm sure CC is, after all these years, getting long in the tooth, mechanical wise. It's time for all of it to go AS LONG AS THEY REPLACE IT WITH SOMETHING AT LEAST AS GOOD.

I do not accept your challenge. No way am I subjecting myself to that.

I have now doubt it changes your POV. There's a reason I didn't go into education. Several actually.

Mad respect for those that do it.

Having said that, I remember teachers being equally convinced Gen X would take the country to hell in a handbasket. And you know teachers thought the same thing about the Boomers. One day a generation may actually fail. But every generation will be absolutely convinced that the next generation is screwing up. You can count on that. I'll believe it when it happens.
You should have heard what was said about the boomers. Talk about gone to hell in a hand-basket, that was us. All the talk of wars, it was the "greatest generation" that got involved in that little police action in S.E. Asia. Not a single generation doesn't get us involved in something. No generation should get to smug about that, they are the next ones to do that for us.

Clever Idea... It is already partially themed for what Radiator Springs Racers would need. Personally, I would like to see DHS be turned into a park more like DCA.
naa just have the radiator springs racers go through Catastrophe canyon.
I always thought that a good idea would have a different attraction, mostly because I heard they couldn't use Luigi and also to give the 2 carslands some variety, and it would be somethin like Filmore's Canyon Tours, driving around and going through catastrophy like the backlot tour. But don't mind me, i should be in the imagineer forum.

No, I'd kinda miss it too... but I'd be willing to give it up for newer, better stuff. Would you?
Idk, I guess so.
As long as it is approved by me!;)
But reallly I guess i just would miss having that behind the magic studio set feel.

And if SBT closes, SoA better close too, because it'll just seem even more like cheap facades and we won't see any purpose for them with SBT gone

Why don't they just revamp the backlot tour? I know that they don't film things there anymore, but they can always get new props and build set replicas. I seem to recall that the lighthouse from the 4th PotC movie was in an Orlando backlot (either Uni or Disney) for filming a while back. Why not bring that to DHS? If TDO does in fact want to keep the current theme, then just refresh the backlot tour with things younger than the War on Terror
