I'd hate to see DHS become like the other Studios-esque parks (both in Disney and Uni) in that they just become a park to house miscellaneous attractions that don't fit well anywhere else or that other parks don't have space for. Fort the sake of ToT and GMR, I hope that they keep the park's overall theme and just give it the rides and refurbs it needs. If not, then just pick a new theme and stick to it.

I dunno... I would argue that this fate has already befallen the park. At the moment its a mish-mash of different attractions and shows. The most cohesive part of the park is the front of the park between GMR and ToT.

I think the park has an identity crisis. I started out as a park for exploring the magic of the movies from a behind the scenes point of view. But with the studio portion closing down and the technological shift in movie-making towards digital, a lot of the park seems outdated. Universal saw the writing on the wall and shifted its focus toward experiencing the movies themselves in an interactive manner.

DHS needs a more focused direction and theming that fits that direction.

Oh, and axe the Backlot Tour. It's depressing in its current state. My 2 cents.

Hi All,

According to Disney's Website, there are "No times available" for Backlot tour beginning on July 13 2014. Is this part of the closures that are rumored for DHS? There are dates listed for 7/12, but then none through any of the dates listed (December)

What's up?
Not sure why this rumor is still going around, they are refurbish the strings of trams as we speak, most are getting new paint, and most are getting from frame up, sandblasted, metal repairs, painting of frames, new floors, and covering then reassembled back to properly operating.

To be fair, Disney has done crazier things. It also could have been part of an annual budget of normal upgrades.

The reason I asked was was:

1. According to Disney's Website, there were "No times available" for Backlot tour beginning on July 13 2014.
2. There were just a bunch of news/rumors going around regarding closing attractions and Star Wars land.

sorry for bringing it up...

I agree, heck a good example of that is 20K. That went down for refurb and we expect them to be back on line anytime now. They spent a lot of money on them since that had to install "stealth" capability, but, it must have worked, no one has seen one for years.

I say get rid of the backlot tour and the stunt show and use that space for a cars land or star wars land or something worth wild. That's a lot of space being used for really not much.
