Backlot theatre to be demolished

Ah, not good news for those of us who want quality things to do. But good news for me feet to avoid that section of the park all together. (Still haven't seem LMA and no desire to).

Hopefully we'll soon see the death of these "stunt shows" at any park.

:D :D :D

Something for moms and daughters to do while dad and the boys see the flaming car show.

Isn't that what all of the shops are for:shrug:

:lookaroun

:p

Heehee.. nothing wrong with a woman who loves to shop!!!!

Of course it's usually my husband wondering the shops while I'm on ToT.

Whatever the plans for the old theater may be, I hope it's something cool! That area of the park is sad!!!

I am sure we had a thread on hear recently stating that it will become the home of band contests or something like that?

Disney recently created a program / partnership which works with Drum Core International, and Winter Guard International as well as local versions where they could perform exhibitions throughout the year... I believe it was going to go in the studios and possibly use this area.

Disney and DCI, now that is a match made in heaven.

huh wonder what they got in mind

when i was there last week i looked through the crack.... (theres a 2 inch gap in the building) and it looked like they still had the hunchback stage there but they also used it to store big prop looking things and large pieces of wood....
i liked the hunchback stage show...=[

It ain't a ride.
Looks like they are replacing a theater with....wait for it....a theater!

Yeah...I think it's that DCI type thing. Heard that a while back and nothing else has come along, I don't think.

Oooohhh.....speaking of DCI....I think I vote for the return of "The Power of BLAST!"

Yes, I announced in August that it will be the new home of Festival Disney, which is Disney's version of a Solo and Ensemble/WGI/DCI/BOA competition. Festival Disney will be 3 years old this year, and in the past 2 years, has been held in make-shift locations, such as backstage areas of DTD, Saratoga Springs, ect.

UPDATE:
Found it. It was actually in July I had mentioned this. Here's the link:

I'm actually surprised BatB is still around. It's been there since MGM opened. On this next trip I plan to tape it since I'm assuming it can't be around too much terribly longer.

And yeah, I'll always be bitter they ripped out Residential St for LMA. I wasn't too impressed with Paris' LMA and was somewhat less impressed with MGM's.

Wow another reason I'm going to spend all of 15 minutes in MGM when I am there later this month, is there anythign open in that park at all that would justify me spending more time there than to just eat at Mama Melrose???

I like how on that map the hat is billed as some sort of attraction.

Hopefully we get a real attraction since LMA is not all that good.

Actually I think BatB opened with the whole Sunset Blvd area in 1994. The stage show couldn't have been there since the park opened in 1989 since the movie itself didn't come out until 1991! Still, 13 years for a stage show is a good amount of time, I'm also surprised it's still there.

That would be the perfect place for the version of Crushes coaster. If they used Cars as a Theme, it fits with Lights Motors Action. If they used Ratatouille It's a city area so of course there are rats. Just a thought anyway.
