Interesting....

I'd never thought of it like that.

Going with that theory though, it had been many years since they'd seen their friend "Marty", so I think that the folks wouldn't give the resemblance any more than a passing thought - sorta like a "Hmmm - he really kinda reminds me of that guy from high school that hooked us up - pretty neat, isn't it?"

Yeah, that strange kid who appeared from no where for a week and really tried hard to get the two of us together, by the way hun, did he even attend classes. And what was that Music he was playing. Hey, I had a weird dream once with Darth Vader and Vulcan in it when he was here, and he just seemed to Vanish after we kissed that night. Matter of fact, he already knew what was going to happen on the Honeymooners that night we first met when the show was brand new.

*Thinking to herself now* "He even wore brand name underwear before they were popular"

"Um, Marty, could we talk to you for a minute?"

If Marty was that big of an impact in his life to name their child after him... :animwink:

OK, I'm still on Disc One. And that happened way in the past, no one should know anything about that. But it shouldn't ruin it, I just don't see why his parents can't seem to put two and two together... Biff does, and with a lot less information too. Biff is suppose to be the stupid one. (Oops... I said Disc One, right? )

He only knew it because it's not everyday you see a flying DeLorean

I have another question since we're on Disc One...
What would happen with Marty's memories??? I mean he completely changed his life when he went back to 1955...so would he have NONE of the same memories that the rest of his family has?

Very good, that was my other question I forgot. Seems his clothes or habits or something would have changed, instead he is unaltered, with a few exceptions. Oddly enough he still bought the same clothes and everything. Great Point. Maybe since he is the one floating through time, his original self does not alter, just things around him, so perhaps their was a alternate past Marty that is wiped out the moment Marty returns to his new present time??? Good philosophical questions with this movie, that's a part of what makes it so great. But many things make it great. Hopefully, I will start watching part 2 tonight.

I saw the Part One trailer last night... I Love it. That was the first time I had ever seen it, I was too young to pay attention back then, and way into my Intellivision. :D

Ya know something...Back to the Future, in my eyes, has more "discussion topics" and "questions that need to be answered" than Star Wars...I mean, Star Wars, for the most part, is pretty clear...but Back to the Future, although great as a trilogy, great as a single movie...it still has great topics of discussion that keep the "buzz" about the movie going. I know they never will...but in my opinion, a well done 4th movie would really pull in some MAJOR money.

The trick is...where do you go??? You've been to the future, you've been to the "big band days" and you've been to the old west...I'm thinking Ancient times??? or...back to the 80's!!!

Super Idea, in 2015, have them go back to 1985 to see why the future did not turn out as they originally saw it.

Just the problem with Michael J Fox in his current state. :(

There we terrible rumors about making a prequel, showing how Marty and DOc met. :hurl:

But covering the questions you guys posed, I just think the essential in each one is always the same, so they were the same people and made (basically) the same choices in life. Only they had more guts and more money the second time around... :D

I agree with you, Freak. At least BTTF has more substance than the Star Wars movies. I was watching one of the Clerks cartoons, and they drill George Lucas with stuff like "if Obi-Wan told Luke his father was a great pilot when he met him, how come when they met he was just a small kid?" and "if Obi-Wan said he was trained by Ioda, how come you showed us he was trained by Qui-Gon?"

WHOA...I never realized that until now...you're RIGHT...they didn't show Obi-Wan being trained by Yoda like the originals said!!!

(Oh, and even as a young kid...he was a great pilot...meaning he took out the battle droid control station)

The Ultimate Confusion!

OK, I just finished Back to the Future II. :)

To make this as simple as possible I will number all my different thoughts and questions.

Obviously the most info is crammed into this movie, and it can be extremely fun to watch, but it can also be very confusing and thought provoking. I have not watched the special features yet, so some of this may be answered in those:

1. First, when the flying DMC is struck by Lightning a backwards "99" appears in the sky... anyone know if it's signifigant?

2. Why don't the Hover Board or top of Future Biff's Cane disappear when reality is changed?

3. In Biff World 1985, we see that the Dog and Jennifer are left behind (this can blow your mind if you let it). If they are from an alternate 1985 then there should be two of them there. Then they should not be able to exist in the bad 1985, yet when everything is changed they remain but the others vanish. Just try to really think about that. :brick:

4. On that same notion, if Doc was put away then a time machine was never created, therefore None of the events should of happened, thus everyone and the time machine should have vanished shortly after arriving in bad 1985.

5. Even furthur on the subject, if Doc was never able to build the machine then future Biff never should have been able to travel to the past (if would be different if 1955 Biff had went to the future to get the Mag). :hammer:

6. Finally if Doc and Marty actual succeeded in going to the past and correcting the trouble future Biff caused then why is there a bad 1985 in the first place, it should have never existed, because Doc and marty were going to fix it anyway.

And on that notion, I will leave all of you throughly scratching your heads and looking puzzled and wanting to watch the movies again.:animwink:

Ok.... According to the Folks at ILM the 99 is really the "fire trail spinning" cause when the DMC was struck by lighting... it spun side over side and forward... so instead of two straight fire trails like on the gound...the "99" is supposed to be a spiral fire trail. :)

Back to the Confusion part II

7. And this is cructial... if Marty and Jen in 2015 have already time traveled back in 1985 then why is it so important they do not meet again... especially Marty. They should realize what is going on and be "OK" with it.

8. Doc is never mentioned in their future Home which I thought was a great suttle addition to the movie since he will not continue to be in Marty's everyday life once he gets the train. (Just thought that was neat cause you would think more would come up about Doc from Future Marty).

Ok...#1. I don't know if I "buy" that from ILM...99 is significant to the old west...I can't remember but it really is. (Heck, even now...the 99 restaurants...a 99 with a horseshoe around it)

#2. The hoverboard and cane didn't disappear because they were IN the time machine. Just like a human or clothing.

#3. This is explained the same way as it's explained everytime Marty goes forward and backwards through time :hammer: (in other words...I don't know...just go with it  )

#6. This is a movie... without the alternate 1985...then there wouldn't be a movie...and then this question wouldn't exist and the thread is called "BTTF Trilogy" and there wouldn't be a trilogy and this thread wouldn't exist...

you have to watch the commentary with Bob and Bob and listen to the directorsd comentary to know that sometimes that you have to suspend disbelife and just go with it, its a movie and not true or accurate all the time

What do you mean??? These movies aren't there to answer the meaning of life???? :hammer:

We know JMarc...we just like discussing the "unanswered" bits and trying to come up with some logic for it :)

It's purely for fun. I got a humor to me like that sometimes.

But I really love to think about it too... I can appreciate it for what it is... but I also love to look deeper and overanalyze things (it's a hobby... never criticizing).

I think these movies are some of the best movies ever made honestly... I never tire of watching them.
