Back of Dumbo Building

How expensive could it really be to maintain? Every local amusement park has tons of go carts.

That's what I thought, but all the go cart places around me use electric ones. I wonder how much Disney spends every day on fuel?? (btw does anyone know exactly what type they use? Is it Diesel? Ethanol? Some sort of mix?)

The Speedway is even more incongruent than that; Disneyland's Autopia was at least the "highway of the future," while the Florida version has always been a Speedway, as in, a race track. I just wonder why this attraction never caught a case of 20,000 Leagues-itis, where Disney decides to shut it down an attraction because it is very expensive to maintain.

I always thought it was a little odd that the Speedway and the exterior of the Starlight Lounge never got the "deco tech" make over with the rest of the Tomorrowland back in the 90's, and now seeing how close the racetrack is to the new Dumbo line I'm wondering if the Speedway's day are numbered

I hope they are.

1. The Speedway gives off an awful smell.
2. The Speedway is too loud, and yes, you can hear it over all of the crying toddlers and bickering parents. EVEN the tour groups..
3. It takes up so much space that could hold something way better.
4. You can get a clear view of the Dumbo building.

It just needs to go soon..

All are true. The amount of real estate it takes up and the lack of efficiency alone should warrant removal.

They could just make a giant billboard advertising the circus coming to town and change the date every year like they did with the old COP sign.

You know what would be nice to do with the Speedway space? Alice in Wonderland ride on the Tea Cup side, something inspired by Meet the Robinsons on the Tomorrowland one.

I also agree, but what kid doesn't love driving go carts? IMHO it's almost a theme park necessity.

If I had it my way, they'd make a more "futuristic" version and (taking a hint from HKDL) place it outside the berm in the unused space north of Space Mountain. This would both free up a butload of space, and provide a better version of a well liked attraction in an otherwise unaccessible and unusable parcel of land.

I wouldn't mind the maze from Disneyland Paris.
Oh and definitely this :D

Love this idea...also make the cars electric, and shove them indoors on a "tron" like grid....a little black light, a little LED....now you got the future in your hands.

I don't know why anyone hasn't jumped on this but in modern construction roof top duct work is covered by a thin wall of sheet metal that will allow it to blend into the building ..

And what exactly is the building going to blend in with?

Well if you paint it .. what is that color called... Go Away Green. It will allow it to blend better and then you add landscraping to the front of it.. The OP was talking about ductwork

How about a futuristic backdrop to add some Tomorrow to a 1971 grand prix track?

Another radical idea...

Well if its some sort of backdrop I think it will look cheap either way.. I'm not seeing much depth there in between the speedway and the backstage area of dumbo.. Dense landscaping with taller trees along the backside of dumbo would be the best looking cover. At least that is what Mickey Monitor said.. Plant your tallest landscaping in the back and then work your way down

Gosh, I'd hate to see all that land by space mountain be used for something like that.

Meet the Robinsons? How about Wall-E, or something more popular?

The future city would look great in Tomorrowland and fits the area's mood better then BNL ads as far as the eye can see. I'm not opposed to Wall-E in Tomorrowland though. Would be a great thing to replace Laugh Floor with.
