Back in my day, we couldn't reminisce on web sites like this, because Al Gore hadn't invented the internet yet.

back in my Day.. there were BIG TREES.. including one probably 200 years old before you went through the main gate at Magic Kingdom..

Back in my day.. I went 20K under the sea and was amazed..

or dropped to the ocean floor in the hydrolators in Living Seas..

Communicore EAST AND WEST..

in Pirates the Pirates chased the women, and the song was a touch more risk'y.. so was the original Alladin song.. with Robin Williams..

the cannons fired rubber balls in Pirates.. and the flew over your head and landed in the water..

THe boat in Norway came way out of the opening.. and the scary troll was ON THE CEILING.. not on the ground.. and it scared the crap out of you..

I really enjoyed the CM's Doing MAGIC TRICKS IN THE MAGIC SHOP on Main street..

Hot dogs cost $1.25 at Casey's and in the American Adventure..

there was a different , out of the way restaurant in MGM with a cast member referal.

in my day.. Everyone Clapped and sang with the Bears.. and went into the MILE LONG SALOON after ward..

in my day.. you were afraid to ask for money for an extra E TICKET.. just because it was like $1.25 for the ticket alone.. and you couldn't combine A tickets to earn an e ticket..

in my day Turkey Legs cost less then $5..

in my day the Diamond horseshoe Saloon put on a show to BEAT THE BAND and you couldn't get in there with a crow bar..

in my day.. no one ever had a bad day at Disney.. both you and your parents were on their best behavior at all times..

In my day you were proud to wear Mickey Ears at all times.. even when you got home..

in my day Horizons was a GREAT RIDE..

and you could get sick to your stomach in the making of me.. or looking at a blue script that spelled GREEN..

in my day there was only one Park for the longest time.. and THAT WAS DISNEY WORLD.. because there wasn't anything else..

you could watch black and white cartoons on main street..

You could see a true OSCAR up close.. or the Ruby slippers.. the REAL ONES.

Jim Henson was alive.

Michael Eisner , Frank Wells, and Jeffery Katzenbeg , had a vision.. and worked well together..

Michael Eisner was more respected then Donald Trump. and MORE BELIEVABLE.

in my day Bean Counters in the business end of Disney World, didn't have much say in the progess of the parks..

parking was a dollar..

Every ride and almost every concession stand was sponsored by SOME ONE..
Kodak, Coca Cola, Eastern Airlines, an ice cream company, GM..

first Eastern and the Delta were the official airlines to Walt Disney World.

in my day we got a four room suite, Free Breakfest and a TANKFULL of Gas when we left our hotel for $30 per night.. Days inn and Lodge.. Florida Mall area , right on the bee line.. and OBT.. and the place was new and packed with people..

You could get great buffet at China Jade.. including ICE CREAM..

Big Mac's were two for $2..

You listened to Disney CD's for 3000 miles in the car and loved every minute of them..

Your kids behaved like no one's business, because they WERE GOING TO DISNEY WORLD.

You could shock you kids, by "missing a turn" and going to Universal for a day, having already boughten the tickets..

in my day, a guy from New Jersey could question what "kind of fish " is a manatee with a CM, for 10 minutes , not realizing that a manatee is not a fish.. and then blaming the CM for not giving him the correct answer..

in my day you could put your kids on a matress in the back of a suburban and have them sleep a good portion from Wisconsin to Florida..

in my day You couldn't CONVINCE your wife, that these big road side Orange places that had "bags of oranges for $x, " was a bait and switch place.. until she had been to two of them. .

in my day, you could drink as much free juice as you wanted when you first came into Florida at the State info center..

in my day, NASA was a day trip from Orlando, and wasn't half of what it is today.. but the feelings were so much more real, since the moon landings were taking place..

in my day.. you could drive through orange groves.. see guys picking oranges, stop, offer them a six pack of beer, and then pick about 500 pounds of oranges for free.. and trust me , my two grandmothers were along.. and they were the worst.. and I found oranges in the floor of the station wagon for months later.

in my day, Silver Springs and Cypress Gardens were in the same esteem as Disney World.. and had tons of business..

and in my day.. King Louie was on the jungle cruise and the rocks fell into the water as you went into the tunnel to get away from him..

can anyone confirm those two points?

well there are few here..

you want conformation on points.. well there are few here that were 10 or more when Epcot opened.. so its hard to confirm..

but there is no reason to lie or mislead in this thread.. no reason at all .

I will tell you this.. the track is still there.. the bumper is moved up.. but the track, if you look in the water,, is still there..

what happened was you REALLY had the feeling of going over the falls.. and then the boat was "tipped, pointing up.. and then the light flashed, and the troll on the ceiling was lit.. and again.. it was like bang, bang..

you were going over the falls. bang, you stopped.. light flashes.. and you see the troll..

and it all fit in with the script..

I think he may be asking about the rubber cannonballs. I remember the flash from the cannon, the sound effect of the shot, then the splash. I don't think that any projectiles were ever fired.
The boat did come out of the building.

Back in my day, you could stay in a roadside motel near Orlando when visiting the Magic Kingdom and be surrounded by orange groves.

Back in my day, the Magic Kingdom stayed open until 1 am all summer long.

Oh, back in my day, you made your lunch and dinner reservations the same day if you were planning ahead. There was no such thing as "we are full and you can't eat here today."

Back in my day: (which was around 93, 94, 95)

there were the prettiest little "lakes" or ponds (I don't know how they were called) all around epcot, specially in front of SSE.

Test track wasn't even being built. It was World of Motion

Waiting in line was fun! there were no interactive queues but still you had time to eat some ice cream and hang out while you waited. and lines weren't longer than 40 minutes!

you came into MGM and you felt like you were in Hollywood. No hats blocking the chinese theater.

Strollers were made out of metal and blue canvas. And one day when mine got stollen on the muppet attraction, I could just sit on the front of my sister's. Those strollers could take some weight.

we didn't need breaks in the early afternoon to swim in the hotel pool. We went hardcore all day and then swam after we got to the hotel late at night.
We didn't get tired, we were like kids on crack because we were at WDW!

we could get our hand stamped to go from any park to epcot at night to watch the fireworks. You didn't have to spend any extra money on a park hopper ticket!

Our parents didn't mind letting us eat everything with fries. NO APPLE SLICES! and no weight problems!

Cinderella's Castle was a huge, pink birthday cake and we though it rocked! We loved the original castle but yet we knew it wouldn't stay like that and still it made a huge impact.

I guess that's all for now.

The boat did come out of the building in Norway.

No rubber balls in POTC.

I was 22 when Epcot opened.

Well bud.. I could see, the 'cannon" balls.. black.. round.. a touch smaller then a "super ball".. if you can see them.. I would assume rubber.

and as for Norway.. go and ride the ride.. sit near the end and look at the tracks.. trust me a whole lot of boat was in sunlight.. and more then very obvious when you were standing in line..

and even last year, when I addressed this with the Pirates Cm, he told , yes, every one keeps asking the SAME QUESTION.. he didn't know.. he was TOO YOUNG..

back in my day, we took mid-day breaks to go swimming and then worried the black light ink from getting our hand stamped would wash off and we couldn't be able to get back in the Magic Kingdom (but we always did).

It was King Louie - he followed you from the Jungle Cruise with his super ball cannon and was shooting at you.

As for the Maelstrom boat going outside the building, hanging over the rocks, yes of course. Here is photo proof:
