Average Length of Stay

My husband and I can never agree on how long our Disney vacation should last. I would prefer a longer stay but was wondering how many days everyone stays at the parks. I'm not talking about the people that live close and spend the day or weekend there, I'm talking a full out Disney vacation so that's why I started the poll at 5 days. There is no way I would go for less than that. You don't need to be at the parks every day, I know that some people spend a day or two just enjoying the resort. I just want to know how many days you actually spend on Disney property each trip. Also, does your choice of resort play into how long you are staying and would you shorten or lengthen a trip based on your resort choice?
Thanks!

When the kids were younger we had to do the peak season like others have mentioned and always kept it to 7 days/6 nights. Got the kids out of here (just kidding) and started going 10 days/9 nights! Now I enjoy spending time off property for a few days and there are so many places I want to eat on property that in November we are going to try 15 days/14 nights!

Thanks for the responses. I am so jealous! It seems that everyone gets to stay longer than me! :( I'm really working on my husband for a two week trip next time. My daughter's school/sports schedule kind of plays into this but since she really wants to go with us I will probably need to wait a few more years before I can go for longer than a week at a time. She's a freshman in high school but once she graduates I won't feel bad if we go on our own lol.

We always stay 6 nights 7 days. The longest I have stayed was 8 days. In September I stayed 5 nights but I felt it was too short and that extra day makes a difference to me. Someday I would love to stay 9 nights 10 days.

The shortest I have ever stayed is 7 days, but the majority of the time it has been 8 nights / 9 days. That just seems like the right amount of time to get in a good full trip.

We used to do 7 days, but felt too rushed. Last time we did 11 days and spent 10 of them in the parks. We came home happy but exhausted. This year we settled for 10 with only 6 days in the parks so we could build in some off time. My husband will be a much happier guy having a couple of days to sleep in while on vacation:).

Usually go for 6 days, but it's never enough! There's always something I come home adding to my list for "next trip". This time I'm going for 10 days, so I hope I am satisfied by my last day!! :)

I swear 7 days you would think is enough time and it isn't. I seriously could go for 8-9 days to allow for enough time to see and do everything. Epcot and magic kingdom are the parks with the most stuff, then animal kingdom. Hollywood studios is a day or less park. But by the time your done with all the parks u don't have much time if any to relax at the hotel lol or even downtown Disney, unless u go at night after the parks.

We usually go 8 days and visit parks on 7 days! One day at HS and AK and two days at MK and EPCOT then last day is up the kids! The day at AK is usually our take it easy evening at resort or maybe take a boat ride to DTD!

coming from the uk - we normally go for 16 days so we get the benefit of the 14 day park pas, then we can do the parks at nice relaxed pace, we are planning our next trip for november this could be biggerst stay yet at 18 nights, think that that will be the best trip yet

I think for "us" on here, 8 days, 9 days is never enough. People who don't frequent Disney are content with going to Disney for 3-4 days because they aren't into it like all of us.

I like this idea. There is plenty of stuff we can do outside of the parks to fill in the days. I always just figured on having a pass for each day at the park that I was there. My husband might like this better. Thanks!

We have previously done 10 day trips and had at least a day for each park, 2 days for Uni/IOA, 1 day for Sea World, 1 for Busch Gardens, and an extra day or two to do MK and anything extra like water parks or DTD or catch up on anything we missed.

We are talking about doing just Disney on this next trip, so we'll probably cut our trip down to 7 days.
