Average Length of Stay

My husband and I can never agree on how long our Disney vacation should last. I would prefer a longer stay but was wondering how many days everyone stays at the parks. I'm not talking about the people that live close and spend the day or weekend there, I'm talking a full out Disney vacation so that's why I started the poll at 5 days. There is no way I would go for less than that. You don't need to be at the parks every day, I know that some people spend a day or two just enjoying the resort. I just want to know how many days you actually spend on Disney property each trip. Also, does your choice of resort play into how long you are staying and would you shorten or lengthen a trip based on your resort choice?
Thanks!

Our trip in Novemeber is 8 days - we hope to have some down time. Last time it was 6 days and we felt exhausted when we retruned. (I needed a vacation from the vacation - I was falling asleep in a meeting the day I returned to work.) Also, as my DD (10) says "the longest we can stay - the absolute longest - if we leave before we have to I will be sad." She is full of drama - but I agree.

Excluding a special trip for a hard ticket event (MVMCP) we do 9-10 days of parks and 10-11 day trips. The departure day we often leave in the am so we get home at a decent time. We have a 2 hr and some odd minute drive to a major airport and a 2 hr 20 minute flight if it's direct.

8 days 7 Nights was the norm, but then realized we were trying to cover too much in too little time. Usually look at 10 days or so. That gives ample amount of park time and then time in the resort itself. As my gf puts it, when you try to pack too much into a vacation, it stops being a vacation, and turns into a "trip". Moving forward, we put a bit more "vacation" into our trips.

7 nights is, in my opinion, the ideal stay for our family. We have done as few as 5, and as many as 9. I don't mind the shorter trips, as we only do WDW (no UNI) and can usually do most everything we're interested in, but still tend to feel a bit rushed. On the other hand, the 10-day trip (which did include one UNI day) was a bit long - we were all ready to go home by the end (the only time that has ever happened...)

Simple. The longer, the better. ;)

I stay a week typically. 4-5 days in the parks, resort/downtown days on the ends (arrival/departure days) and maybe in the middle to recover a little. This gives you a day for each park, or you can hit a couple of parks multiple times (especially with a 'hopper).

Most of the time we do a 15 night trip. It is great to not feel rushed to get everything done in a week or less. We have done a 3 night trip for an anniversary once and that was insane and we were exhausted when we got home. One thing we liked to do was split our stay between 2 resorts to break up the trip a little.

Thanks for all the responses!! It seems that just about everyone stays longer than us lol. I'm showing this to my husband tonight in the hope that we might stretch our next trip some. Now, I just need to figure out when that will be. Hopefully sometime next year.

longest stay was 17 days with parkhopper plus waterpark
now we average 9 - 14 days so we can take our time and see each attraction with less stress.
We make it down there about each 2-3 years so there usually is quite a bit new things to experience.

It is a 9 hour drive to WDW for us. When we go we typically plan 5 park days. This works for us because we dislike going in the summer time and during massively crowded holidays, and since our kids are middle and high schoolers now we feel as though they cannot miss as many school days as they did when they were younger. That means we are usually planning trips around extended weekends when we can add another day or two to the school break and have a decent WDW vacation. I sure would like to try a couple weeks down there though!

I'm going with my boyfriend and his family this year (never been before but they have a few times) and we're going for 16 days, the day we get there we'll rest, then the day we leave we'll be packing and crying :L so 14 days in all is pretty good apparently. It gives you plenty of time to wander around and visit other places if you want to. I live in England so going for any less than a week isn't good enough (jet lag and all that) :D
