In addition to the ride attractions there will also be a Dr. Strange stage show.

Upon the opening of the land there will be the Spider-Man shooter and Dr. Strange show.

Is the Avengers coaster confirmed or still a rumor?

No
That's just a big screen TV playing a movie. A real attraction would be much more than that. What a pathetic fake.

Right? If only it had real actors or animatronics like ToT.....

Hopefully. Certainly beats letting it dead end at guardians and having a land with no other connectivity to its surroundings at dca than the hardscape.

I haven't heard a ton about the coaster aside from the fact that is seems pretty troubled due to potential low capacity. Anyone know/have any guesses about what kind of coaster ride system would have drastic capacity problems?

I don't have a ton of my own sources but an industry friend mentioned once that Vekoma was working on a modified flying coaster system that could do a few slower show scenes at the start in loading/B&M invert style seating before transition to the flying position mid ride. Could that be the ride system they are working on??? Would be awesome for an avenges/iron man ride to have us in some prototype suits and then oh no we have to take off and evade the bad guys!

Vekoma are already building one of these! It's at Phantasialand in Germany and will open either late this year or next year. Loading will be similar to Harry Potter and the forbidden journey. It can then rotate into a more flying position before it does it's thing. This means it can have show stops etc, in fact the one under construction will have a dark ride portion while it goes up a lift hill before it's first launch. So there could be some truth to what your source is saying. Video of the test track at Vekoma...

Okay wowza thank you so much. I haven’t been following Air that closely so I didn’t realize that’s what this was!!! Well now I need to get myself to Germany sooner rather than later. Chipas, Taron, Black Mamba, Winjas and now this are all so cool

It’s a programmable and controlled spinning coaster I believe.

Edit: oops thought this was the GOTG thread. No idea what’s happening with the ride lol

Okay you beat me too it. I was gonna be really confused if imagineers were scratching their heads over a spinning coaster when they’re already building one right now haha. Then again, they are managing to spend like 400 million on a spinning coaster so maybe that’s some of the problem with the Avengers coaster

The confusion might be because for a while, people thought the GotG coaster was going to be a flying coaster.

I really wonder if Disney would ever build a flying coaster. On one hand, there is huge narrative potential for a super immersive or themed coaster. On the other hand, the ride system is so inherently "extreme" I wonder if it's just a bridge too far into thrills. Even removing some of the super intense elements like a pretzel loop, your average Disney guest may just be totally disinterested in a coaster that dangles you off the ground like that

Just because you're in a flying position doesn't mean the coaster can't be tamed to be something more family friendly.
