A reminder that this is what Hong Kong Disneyland is getting for their Marvel ride. It looks more exciting than an Irvine office park to me.

If you weren’t looking, this is phase 2.

Here’s phase 1. The Iron Man ride. Looks like a mall arcade. The big addition is yet to come.

This ride doesn't get enough hate. It's arguably just as bad as Mission Breakout. Disney has no idea how to handle Marvel in the parks.
I’m not hating on the ride. I’m only stating that this is the beginning of bigger things. Marvel is barely in the parks. It will have a bigger presence.

I'd think they'd use it in conjunction with a Spidey meet and greet. He'd swing on over then the human Spider-man comes out from behind a wall or door like Frank Drebin in the Naked Gun.

I was betting on more of a stunt show kind of situation. But you're idea works too. Just seems like such a waste of the tech though for a simple M&G.

Oh, I'm all for using it in a stunt show and my guess is that's what it's for. I'm sure the lawyers won't allow them to throw these around anywhere near where it might land on a guest.

All I have to say is that at least these recent plans are a whole lot better than the stupid Marvel M&G alley idea that Staggs had for behind GotG (ToT at the time). No actual ride, just M&G with a few exhibits.

Agree to disagree, but I do appreciate your opinion as I hope you can appreciate mine and others here.

I'm not saying this is the best they could do but its also not the worst, and I personally wouldn't call it crap. Disney is going to do what Disney is going to do, it doesn't matter what you, I, or anyone else on this forum thinks of it. It would take a huge loss of revenue (which we both know isn't going to happen) for them to make a change.

Also I wasn't comparing the original lands to this, I was just saying it reminds me of how the original lands made the attractions the focal point not the facades. And it wasn't until decades later that it changed to what we have now.

I'll end with what I said before, is this what I would have come up with, no. But at the same time I can see what they were going for, the less is more method of designing. All we can hope for is that they modify it more and add more "pop" to it before construction starts.

That’s the thing, the aesthetics of the lands have always been just as important as the attractions themselves. You can look at the concept art from decades ago and see that Walt, the Imagineers, etc. took aesthetics into consideration. For the time, the original lands’ aesthetics were up to par. New Orleans Square is a prime example. I highly doubt Disney sat in meetings and said something of the likes of “as long as the rides are cool, we don’t need to make the lands look nice.”

Agree to disagree.
