I'm sorry but your whole premise is ludicrous, and really not as straight forward as you make it seem. Why would Disney keep a program where they make less money?I didn't say anything about price increases. You seem to have a habit of saying I (and Bob Iger) said things that we actually never did.
The answer to this is obvious. Because the AP program makes them money. This has nothing to do with whether or not they are worth more than paying guests.
That is not at all where the idea stems from. I have never heard anyone make this argument. I've certainly never made it.
This makes no sense at all. Why would they get rid of a program that makes them money, just because it makes them less than other tickets?
The evidence that APs are worth less is obvious. During the days, weeks, and months of the year when paid guests come in their greatest numbers, Disneyland blocks out APs to make room for them. Why would Disney do that if APs were worth the same or more?
If "paid guests" (which btw APs are, they just pay at a different time) actually make Disney more money then just make everyone a "paid guest" (which I know some would love around here).
The whole idea of the AP for Disney is to keep the park full all year round. They blockout the APs during the busy tourist season in order to get tourist money, not because they value the AP any less. In fact because they want to keep the park full year round I would even say they value APs more because they do come during what used to be off-season times and spend money.
