This makes me so sad, Spider-Man has always been m,y favorite superhero since the RAIMI movies I watched as a kid, I have been working on reading through the comics, and I think that Tom Holland is my favorite Spidey out of the 3. I am gonna assume/hope they work out a deal because Spider-Man is too deeply connected to the MCU in the standalone Spider-Man movies at this point that it would make zero sense for Sony to keep making the movies sans MCU tie-ins, it would be like if they were making Iron Man movies in the recent years and then suddenly Tony Stark stopped talking to all the Avengers and made no mention of any of them ever again, it would just feel wrong and hollow.
You mean like a proper stand-alone movie? I love that idea tbh.

But if you’re riding Lenny, who is the cab behind you? Or ahead of you?

Sometimes I think I take it for granted that there is a ride based on probably my favorite movie of all time. I rarely go all the way back there to ride it. It doesn’t really feel like the movie for me. Probably because my least favorite parts of Who Framed Roger Rabbit is when they are in Toontown. The real magic in that movie are the toons engaging with humans in Old Hollywood. At the bar, the ink n paint club, Eddies apartment, the and the score that goes along with those scenes.

Or Disney will just buy Sony themselves

My honest opinion is Disney won't buy another studio in order to not risk getting a monopoly antitrust suit. It was hard enough for them to get approval around the world for Fox, let alone another major studio. So I doubt they will go for it. Instead I again think they would make a deal to buy the rights back from the new owner.

Their approval roadblocks were mainly with regard to sports broadcasting and TV/streaming. I don't recall any nation concerned about their share of private movie studios.

Disney movies make an outsized portion of B.O. because of their blockbusters. If other studios had successful blockbusters, or if Disney movies didn't do well, it wouldn't look so skewed. As far as the number of movies released per year, Disney and all its subsidiaries still put out a minority of releases. And next year, there will be significantly less released as Fox gets put on a leash, Marvel is taking a theatrical breather, and a lot of resources are diverted to D+.

Sony is blaming Disney now

>>Sony Pictures is vowing to carry on the Spider-Man franchise without Marvel Studios’ involvement, placing the blame on Disney for cutting the successful inter-studio co-operation short.

Does Disney want to create an attraction that promotes Sony’s future Spider-Man movies? After their destruction of wonderful attractions like the Great Movie Ride and Tower of Terror for the same reason, I can’t imagine they would be ok with it. Oh well whatever this ride is going to suck no matter what anyway.

The 60’s animated Spider-Man is the only one that matters.

The issue wouldn’t be here in the US, though the DOJ may give pause to think about it.

The issue would be in other regions, such as China and specifically Japan.

I’m not saying they would be blocked. But I think it would be enough of a headache they wouldn’t even want to do it. Besides the only thing Disney would want would be Spidey anyways. Why buy a whole studio just for that. They can make a deal with whomever buys Sony for the rights and be done with it. No messy potential antitrust suits, and a lot cheaper.

It was rumored awhile back that Sony might spin off their movie studio.
