Avengers Campus: E-Watch! (Waiting on the new ride)

I feel like the Olympics are the type of event where there's concern by tourists that things will be slammed, but what this results in is actually low attendance because so many tourists stay away from presumed crowded destinations not directly related to the main event.

Having lived in LA for 20 years (2004-2024) the least traffic was when they scared everybody with the "Carmageddon" freeway closure. Everyone stayed away and travel was basically traffic free, being the polar opposite of what was predicted.

The news media did the same thing during the '84 Olympics. They predicted "Carmageddon" and the freeways where wide open. Disneyland was empty during the Olympics.

They was also a protest on undocumented workers. Supporters created the "Day without a Mexican" to get undocumented workers to stay home in protest. Again the freeways where wide open.

It’s cool to look at but i question how much it will add to the ride experience and how reliable it will be. It’s the kind of thing you want to see at Avengers Campus though and will add some much needed kinetic energy to the land. Put it this way - if this was in a show building I’d think it was a waste of money.

This land still needs an E ticket rollercoaster.

Agreed but that boat has most likely sailed. At this point i hope it has. Id rather have any other available expansion room like the Hyperion (if they dont plan on keeping it around) used for different IP. 4 Marvel attractions including one that showcases all of the Avengers and probably most of the MCU characters is enough for me.

If Disney is done with Avengers Campus after AID/SFL, the Hyperion and the stretch that contains the Animation building and DJL will probably be folded into Avatar if it goes into HL.

Probably. Odds would be more Marvel or Avatar but I’m holding out hope for the dark horse - Doors coaster. Dark horse might be too generous though. More like pipe dream even though it would make a lot of sense.

This is kind of lame. We just get picked up and shaken around? Not exactly the Kuka arm attraction I was hoping Disney would make. Magic Carpet, anyone?
It is essentially a thrilling flat ride, just a bonus attraction with the added element of new technology via the connecting of the ride vehicle to the kuka arm. This ride was one of the biggest surprises at D23 as it's just something bonus. I do wonder if it's similar to Aquatopia at DinseySea, a flat ride used to design a "new" ride system that could be used for an E-Ticket at a later stage. I do find it funny that this is the attraction RDJ decided to provide his voice for at the parks, and not the Iron Man Experience at Hong Kong or Flight Force at DLP.

I think it will actually feel a little different than it actually looks. Forbidden Journey's actual movement profile feels different when you're on it vs. just watching the arms do their thing, and I would think when coupled with the imagery that they're going to add to this, it'll be a cool experience maybe if it isn't the most interesting ride in the park.

That said the actual mechanics of it are a little more complex than I thought they were going to be, so I'll be interested to see how it all ends up working. As far as support attractions go (which I think this definitely is that), it could be fun.

No

If this animatic is close to how the real one will be, I calculate about a 1200 rider-per-hour capacity, which isn't terrible for a smaller scale flat ride.

I'd have to go back to the announcement, but for some reason I feel like I remember there being different intensity profiles that you can set when you are at the screens. Maybe mild to wild? I didn't see any of the arms turning riders upside down in the video, so we probably won't know how intense (or less intense) it will be until it opens. If it's got non-upside-down levels I might try it. Otherwise it would be a pass.

I have to somewhat agree. Nobody was expecting two more attractions to be made in the land during this phase, so technically most were expecting nothing and we got something.

Like @mickEblu said, it at least adds in some kinetic energy to the land. It's just weird to use nearly 20 year old technology, but I guess not all new rides need to be E-Ticket and not all new rides need to be brand new technology either.
