AVATAR land - the specifics

I don't like that merch. I'm sure it fits the land but it looks like that hippie stuff they sell at the Renaissance Festivals

The tourist themed stuff in the last group isn't bad, but yeah, this stuff... doesn't look great. The stuff that isn't supposed to look like cheap, goofy tourist junk looks more like cheap, goofy tourist junk than the stuff themed as cheap, goofy tourist junk.

The merch was always going to be a major problem with this particular property - the Na'Vi aren't big on consumerism.

yeah they ve been gone on the 27th for a couple of weeks now
sorry man

Are you aware for how long they are gone to? lol I mean this is pretty messed up for anyone that didn't have a resort reservation. Disney should have opened them up to everyone at the same time.

Welcome to the magic of MM+. It's Disney's way of saying "you aren't as important as these other guests."

Guess they figured they gave the APs their previews days. Wheather the system worked correctly or not and enough open time slots isn't their problem.

I'm sure this has been discussed elsewhere but any guesses as to when Disney starts charging for FPs in attempt to lesson the demand, and put more money in their pockets? Surprised it hasn't happened yet. Universal charges extra.

Disney is alredy charging by way of the premium to stay on site and they benefit from increased spending. I haven't seen anything suggesting WDW might charge firectly (unlike DLR, which is already announced), but the destinations have a different dynamic. There are rumors that the number you get might be tied to the level of resort you stay at, butI'm not sure those are well founded.

Yeah, Disney is really showing how bad their management is with the way FP is being run. ROL should really be in that tier process as well. Then, it would split guests up more and give almost everyone a chance to experience a new thing. Poor execution.

I really agree. Nothing for the entire weekend! They could have held some back for the 30 day mark, or released all at once. It's just going to make the crowds even crazier.

We've been trying almost daily for the last month or so to get a FP for ROL, tried every night the show plays and still nothing. Finally this week we we're able to get some for this coming Saturday night, looking forward to finally getting a chance to see this show. (My expectations are low after reading many reviews and seeing plenty of video).

Does anyone else find it kind of amusing and a tiny bit troubling that "ethnically inspired" merchandise based on a fictional culture will be sold next door to the "ethnically inspired" merchandise based on the semi-fictional cultures of the Harambe and Anandapur areas of the park? I feel like by continuing the conventions of the rest of Animal Kingdom, Disney's thematic efforts on the Avatar project are approaching self-satire.
No. Not at all. I think they're very elegant and beautiful pieces of illustration work. This is merchandise design that stands on its own. Nothing "troubling" about it.

Of course. And the opinions of a lot of other people (just scroll up, for Pete's sake, I'm hardly alone).
You stated it like it was fact, which it is not. It is my opinion that this is a smart move for the company. It's an incentive, a perk, for those that stay on property, who also happen to be the people that spend more money, both in the reservations and in the park itself. By giving them fastpasses, it is my opinion you make them happier (and thus willing to spend more and come back to do it again) while also keeping them out of line more and in those stores again. Sure, those that stay off property also will spend money, but it is my opinion the numbers show the powers that are important that it makes a lot more sense to do it this way for these attractions. And it is obvious these people are the ones that actually do have all the data to make the best decisions, not you or I

So many accusations lately for "stating opinion as fact." There is no such thing.

It is perfectly okay – but also completely unnecessary and redundant – to qualify opinions with phrases like "in my opinion" and "I think." The statements @CJR made that you're addressing use words like "bad," "poor," and "should." These make CJR's statements opinions. It is impossible to state a sentence like "x thing is bad" as a fact. It is inherently an opinion because it is a subjective statement.

It's not just you, Ripken10, this is something that's come up in many threads lately. I'd just rather we not waste energy accusing members of logical fallacies that do not exist. It breeds resentment and distrust in what is otherwise a good discussion.

On the Fastpass+ topic, I happen to agree with you, Ripken10. FWIW. :) Fastpass+ is first and foremost a method to increase efficiency, and secondly to improve the guest experience. This is problematic because it goes against Disney's famous four keys order. Still, by these standards, it doesn't show that the people making these decisions are incompetent. They know exactly what they're doing. The potential problem is the priority of efficiency above show and courtesy.
