AVATAR land - the specifics

Long time lurker, first time poster.

I know this is a question that has been asked many times already, but now that we have a solid opening date... what are the chances of soft openings in the 2-3 weeks prior to that? Not entirely sure how 'soft openings' work - is is a quiet, unannounced opening of the entire land or are a 'lucky few' allowed in each day?

Visiting between the 6th and 20th of May. It would be great to catch it, but at the same time, wont plan my holiday around it either! I have a knack of missing opening dates by a week - my last visit was 1 week before Diagon Alley opened!

They have a whole website of stuff. The ride descriptions are petty generic, but they have an ACE team page about the people you'll meet at Pandora which is neat. Its in the about us page.

I'm not privy to timelines, but I do know that Disney usually only does full-scale soft openings with normal operating hours and all attractions open. This is as opposed to Universal, which is known to do "Tech Rehearsals" that are far more unpredictable. It's always good to keep in mind that no matter what kind of soft openings there are, you're taking your chances until it's officially open.

Very likely there will be some kind of preview and soft opening before the official open. How its done varies greatly. Sometimes its announced, others not. It may be for AP holders or DVC, or any combination of the above. It is too early to say right now what will happen. Stay tuned is the best advice!

I would say chances are very good as long as there are no major problems or delays. Parts of the Fantasyland expansion had softs a couple months before the official date. Softs by definition are random openings to the public, private preview access is normally called something different. I would recommend keep an eye on this site as the day gets closer since people will generally post about soft openings here.

Also, note that since this is a full land it's possible that only certain elements will be open during soft openings.

Opening up my Vega$ style booking right now. I am giving 10:1 odds* that they will not hit the 5/27/17 opening date.

Since interwebz gambling with money is illegal (for my state at least), payment and payout will be in genuine Disney grains of white sand from the Poly beach.

PM me with your bets.

*Max bet per person is 100. Does not include shipping fee to be calculated at payout. Offer void where prohibited.

There should be soft openings. SDMT was probably the most difficult soft opening to do, but we still got to do it waiting around for like 3 hours, but for Pandora, as long as not technical issues arise there's no reasons they won't have soft openings.

We will be there that week and are driving home on the 27th. Trying to figure out what day to make our AK day now. Would a day that there are EMH be more apt to be a soft opening day? Or is it pretty arbitrary. Whenever they decide to have one is when they will.
