AVATAR land - the specifics

Is there suppose to be a restaurant of some kind, maybe selling Navi food or maybe you can get a big six legged dog drum stick?

The scuttlebutt was that they would have a restaurant set up like BoG -- quick serve during lunch and table service during dinner. DAK certainly needs more restaurant capacity if it becomes a true full day park (or better transportation to AKL)

I've never been to the Animal Kingdom lodge and would enjoy eating at it's restaurants. Faster transportation between the Park and the Resort would be great. Animal Kingdom Lodge or a Boardwalk resort will be my next stay.

Direct non-bus transportation should be part of the plan. A train would probably fit the theme best.

Yes, I've promoted the idea of having a train type transport between DAK and the AKL (run and marketed the way that the DL monorail is a "ride") which also has some animal enclosures along the way to see. Not only does this add another attraction to the park, but allows for greater access for guests to use the (excellent) dining at AKL and provides an increased incentive for AKL occupancy and DVC sales.

they could run the diesel-electrics up to the TTC...and back into DAK, just a loop of track needed, engines(3) and cars(2 sets @250 capacity) already available.

I have also thought about this as a way to connect the AKL and Kidani directly to SOME part of the WDW parks. It feels so isolated when we go there to eat at one of several excellent restaurants on site.

I was taking it in a slightly different direction. I am not as familiar with how DAK and the AKL/DVC units are situated next to each other, but I was thinking of a train that could connect onto the train loop already supporting the back end of the park. This, to me, would be a way to mimic the setup EPCOT has with the entrance directly into WS for those staying in the various EPCOT resorts. It would simply add a slight variety and advantage for those staying in the AKL/DVC units. Maybe there would be some additional animal viewing along the route or something to make it simply more than just a transport from the resort to the park.

I suppose it would also be a way for TDO to save on capital expense since they could utilize pre-existing track.

only problem connecting existing train loops would be--- the AKL carriages are set up for sideways travel... and the MK stations are set to load-unload on the wrong side of the cars... and there is a difference in gauge (914mm vs 1016mm)... they really just need to have the DAK train have a rustic station and turnabout loop at Ft Wilderness, and add tram service from ttc to ft wilderness to handle capacity... the lot trams carry how many?

after watching avatar I was overall pleased with the movie's visual effects... Notice I said pleased.. I definitely wasn't jumping out of my seat or mind blown by the effects like I was for the movie frozen...However, I know you cant compare a movie like Avatar to the movie frozen. Anyways I did enjoy the movie but, I don't think a new land surrounding the movie is productive at all. In my opinion many Disney movies are forgotten or just underrated..I don't want that to happen to avatar but still a whole land???? I think a ride or a show like World of Color would be amazing for Avatar but the idea of having a whole land of just avatar already entices a bit of disapproval for me.

I wonder if they are going to try to do living versions of the Navi. Doing them to the proper scale would be quite tricky, interesting to see if they could pull it off.

Forced perspective. Have them up in the tree. Plus, then you can show the hidden tree bathroom the CMs dressed as the Navi use when they are on duty on one of those behind the scenes at Disney cable television spectaculars.

According to eyewitness reports, the walkway between Africa and AVATAR will go below the backstage bridge along Discovery River.

Hmph. That's going to make it pretty darn crowded in Africa when shows let out of the theatee. People won't be able to go south (towards the future Pandora area) if they don't have access to the currently backstage west bridge from Discovery Island so everyone both coming and going to FOTLK will need to go through the heart of Harambe until Pandora opens in 3 years.

Seems like an odd decision to me. Why not make that bridge onstage?

Looking at this picture it does appear that the path to the south goes under the bridge. Maybe the plan to build a new bridge that crosses over the river between the lion king area and Avatar.

Do you think they will demolish the older bridges? because they seem to be building/joining new ones.
