Based on Cameron's history that is going to be like trying to hit a moving target.
Sounds like they are starting to drill for pilings. Looks like work really is starting to happen.
The inability to get regular photo updates is going to be very frustrating!
This makes sense, but it is frustrating these days that they can't seem to do more than one thing at a time. A team on Pandora, a team on FOTLK. Why not? I agree that getting the new area (which I also suspect will be done well) open ASAP is a priority.
All in good time, I guess. There are plenty of projects going on right now, just not E-tickets, I guess. Mine Train, Downtown Disney, Hub/second exit, etc.
But. Still.
Does anyone not think it would be nice for once not to have any spoilers? Then when it opens everything would be a complete surprise.
Yes, I know you can just ignore the post when such spoilers are aired, but I can't help but feel that sometimes this type of new projects are spoilt by having such regular progress updates.
I guess that the number of construction workers etc is a finite number, beyond a certain point you are just chasing up the price you are paying for them. Right now, Uni has a huge call on this pool of resources, whilst I would imagine Disney using a fair few on DD etc.
I actually don't like to see too much construction going on as it spoils the parks for me. I only get to visit once every couple of years. On my last trip - April '13, MK was like a building site, so was large parts of AK. US was also a huge building site with Transformers, Springfield and Pottersville all in varying states of construction.
For once, I felt disappointed with the lack of coverings to the construction. At US/IOA I don't mind, but for Disney not so good.
There is zero doubt. There isn't enough egg in the world to cover their face if they didn't build Pandora now.
Na'vi blue.
just curious, why do permits have expiration dates?Do they have to be completed by that time?
probly a dumb question...
theres only so many construction crews available, and they have projects all over the place between MK, DD, AK (FoLK)For a company the size of Disney, and for how much money Disney makes, it's embarrassing that they can't do more construction in a shorter time period.
It's shameful, really.
if they try to hire more crews that are available then they are competing with themselves on price and risk having crews that aren't experienced and qualified to do quality work.I don't think it's a matter of "can't", I think it is "choose not to".
its just so cartoonish, and those carnival ridess are the worst.. basically they were placeholders that have lasted way too long.I agree 100%. When it comes to terrible lands, dinoland is the worst. Its sticks out like a sore thumb compared to the rest of the great theming in animal kingdom.

Go look at the FOLK walls. They aren't the Stanley signs with Disney quotes all across - they made African themed construction notices.theres only so many construction crews available, and they have projects all over the place between MK, DD, AK (FoLK)

it definitely doesn't help that Uni has tons of crews right now too, and seems they fully intend to keep them working even after completion of the new HP land.

would be great to see some type of dino coaster or something.
i like being able to see the progress and know that things are actually going on and changing.
it does seem like recently theyve been using more generic construction walls with less theming to cover up their messes than they use to.
IMO, the walls for FOTLK look like big brown room dividers. Not that they are an eyesore but are on the generic level of things.it does seem like recently theyve been using more generic construction walls with less theming to cover up their messes than they use to.

i would rather they have cheaper generic walls and actually spend money on something worthwhile..to em that is a good way to cut corners

I believe those are called scrims and are still used quite often. Primarily with facade work like the rehabs on the Main Street buildings.yea i dont really care what the walls look like.. i just know in the past they use to use the big printed tarps in certain areas, haven't seen that tactic used recently.. they did that when building that restaraunt at epcot to make it look finished before it actually was finished.
the majority are very generic right now.. though i know the ones at DD dont need to be fancy, and hopefully the HUB ones will be moved around alot.
are there any walls blocking off camp minnie mickey? haven't seen any photos of that area.
Uhhhhhh.... YeaI'm sure if the new movies were coming out sooner, the construction would be finished sooner too. I think what Disney is doing here is obvious. They want the hype about the new movies and the theme park land to combine together.
Do I sense sarcasm?Uhhhhhh.... Yea
