AVATAR land construction progress

I don't know, watching a foreign man carrying his very young daughter with joy ("Finally, something to do!" kind of feeling about it) and being turned away from Dinosaur because of height restrictions was kind-of sad, knowing that there was next to nothing, attraction-wise, for him or her to enjoy together. It was a hot, very crowded day in the summer, and nothing to do, looking from his perspective. Exhibits only keep the attention so long. Something universal like a Good Dinosaur/Lion King/Jungle Book dark ride and something for the kids like A Bug's Land would help.

Not at all.

There's 30 empty acres ready to be developed north of Kali.

Avland has six spare acres.

For example.
Do you think we end up using some of this. Let say if so way in heck SDL is success with I could see the government of China making sure it is, they add more to DAK.

They'll certainly use it. Whether it's in the next decade is anyone's guess. There are long term plans for north of Kali but they've sat on them for nearly ten years so there's no obvious rush.

Shanghai isn't a done deal by any stretch. It'll be an interesting story to follow if you can get the real news.

Rides perhaps, but attractions no.
Disneyland- 49 attractions, 32 rides
Epcot- 34 attractions, 9 rides
DHS- 15 attractions, 5 rides
DAK- 29 attractions, 6 rides

I guess you're right, but many of the Epcot "attractions" aren't really attractions. Galleries in WS pavilions are attractions now? That's dumb.

If Disneyland gets to claim Tarzan's Tree House, AK gets to claim Maharajah Trek and Epcot gets to claim American Adventure.

Absolutely in denial to think there's no truth in this. Two new rides adding ten minutes ride time at most to the park. Think about it. Many will like the glowing plants. Many will like the mountains on sticks.

Not to be totally contrarian to your point, because I totally agree, AK needs more consistent investment than once a decade.

But, this whole package yields a very solid hour worth of 'attractions', even for the commando visitor. Most visitors will do the night show and they seem to be positioning Kilimanjaro that you are supposed to do it 'twice'. In my opinion at least, the night spectaculars tend to side far more on the attraction column than show for most visitors.

For the less commando visitor it will add multiple hours. Can't help but think of Diagon Alley, which was a fairly break even in terms of ride time once you take away Jaws. It definitely added hours of things for me to do in Universal Studios without even forcefully looking for them.

That said... I'll be disappointed if we wait late until late next decade for AK to get anything else.

I'd love to see Australia added as a new land/continent.

Feel sorry for all the animals during construction etc. is it not super loud and disturbing for them?
The construction is far enough away that I don't think it shouldn't be too bad for the animals. I'm more concerned with the park's late hours when Avatar Land opens. Sure, I get that the park was open at night when it was new, but the animals aren't used to a long day like that and it certainly puts more stress on them.

i agree, i've seen the stress thats been put on the gorillas during the day, we were there when it was quite busy and there were alot of people peering in, they looked really agitated.

It seems some would prefer if they took out some of the animal areas to put in rides.

As has already been said, no one is asking for that. There is plenty of room to add some more rides (or other attractions) in addition to the existing animal areas. In fact, in my opinion, I think one of the things that would be beneficial would be to strengthen the existing lands by adding an additional ride to some of Africa, Asia, Dinoland or Discovery Island.

DAK is a fantastic park, but it is underbuilt and additions have been very slow to come. I don't think it's unreasonable for a theme park that has been open over 15 years to have more than 6/7 rides. More attractions would compliment the already great offerings the park has now.
