Who cares that it may not stand up to Potter if it's a great land with great attractions?

Can't people enjoy both freaking lands?

Or are we too juvenile to be able to enjoy both resorts that compete against each other?

Fact of the matter is, if it wasn't for Potter, we probably wouldn't be getting this. And since Universal knew Disney wouldn't go without a response, we're getting more Potter, a new Spider-man film, Despicable Me, and Transformers.

It's a good time to love Orlando.

Nope...we can't enjoy both...I think some people on here have proven that.

Potter has already been announced "king of new stuff", and apparently everybody thinks Disney should stop trying because they didn't pick their favorite movie.

Note: It's not my favorite movie either. I like it, and it's gorgeous. The possibilities to tie in with the conservation theme of the park are really endless.

What info he didn't tell us anything.
The only way I would believe an imagineer emailed him this information if he proved it. Other than that I don't know why he wouldn't post a single thing even if it was in the News and RUMOR section.
Me? Are you new here?
Sir, I never post any rumor I don't personally believe has some truth to it. This one...I thought someone was making a joke. He wasn't.

As for the email...if you want, I can post it here. Not very exciting, I'm afraid.

For people with taste, "Avatar" is just as bad as "Twilight."

Mindless dreck with a delusional fanbase.
Wow...sounds just like the people that say "You're going to Disney World on your vacation? Why? You should go someplace that's good and for grown-ups."

Taste is individual. Insulting someone's taste is pointless. it's all opinion.
My taste is just fine. I saw Avatar once, in Imax. It was quite an amaxing theatrical experience. Not a great story, but a very entertaining visual film. I wouldn't hesitate to say it was better than some Disney properties that have attractions.

I'm really going to be interested to see how they handle the transition to this from the other lands. The very fact that Pandora is not on Earth presents a massive challenge to Joe and Co. How do you transition from Asia to another planet?!

This Avatar-land is also likely to be focused about the LAND and not the characters. It's going to make an absolutely beautiful environment to see in real life. The story of the movie and whether or not you liked it isn't what is going to make this cool.

Well said...and i agree. Even those who have never seen the film will enjoy the stunning visual possibilities inheirent in the Pandorain landscape. There is a great deal of potential there. Almost everyone who has seen 'Avatar' agrees that the visual look of the world of Pandora was visually stunning, even the haters admitted this in many reviews and forum posts elsewhere. I have read many comments from people who were not keen on the film or it's story and characters to completely rave about the look of the enviroment of Pandora.

I think the Avatar themed land at AK will focus more on the enviromental aspects of the films and less on the characters or story. The visual look of the land is going to be just as stunning as the other lands of DAK...that i am absolutely sure of even at this early stage. With Cameron involved, i see this as a huge plus as he is not at all known for cutting corners or cutting budgets. He is famous for his clashes with Fox Studios for more production development time and increasing the budgets of his films. He has always been able to get his way in the end, with the end result almost always paying off. I have a very good feeling this will continue and we will see a spectacular themed area and experience some amazing additons to DAK.

:)

Avatar is the highest grossing movie ever, yes. Harry Potter is the highest grossing franchise ever, and the highest grossing book series of all time. Avatar has some catching up to do.

Further, I do not know anyone that cares about Avatar at all. I just do not see it as the type of property people are excited about.

Argument 1:
For everyone who is saying : At least we are getting a new E Ticket!

You're the reason that movies, music, and now theme parks are the way they are. You don't care what is shoveled down your throat. I don't mean this to be a personal attack but this is a flat out fact. You need to demand better. Why do people settle for this?

Argument 2:
This does NOT belong in Animal Kingdom AT ALL. The Na'vi are people NOT animals. Animal Kingdom is about the earth, its animals, its history, and its culture. I know this movie is heavy handed on the environment and people say that is why its in AK. Why not pick WALL-E? That was about EARTH not a fictious planet's environment and it is a Disney property.

Well, that's very mature.

I'll sit back and enjoy all the new stuff Universal is going to build as well as this new land while you folks have a ing contest on whether Universal or Disney is better or Avatar or Potter, or whatever you need to have a ing contest about.

Star Tours, Twilight Zone: Tower of Terror, Rockin' Roller Coaster with Aerosmith, Indiana Jones...

Kudos you posted it before me.

People are mad that its an outside Franchise, which Disney has been doing for years case in point Star Tours, Twilight Zone.

People made they are using a franchise that will be "dead" before the land opens, Star Tours came out after the last of the original 3 movies and Twilight Zone has been "dead" but its still huge.

People are complaining how it won't be in-depth because of the budget, The budget hasn't even been posted.

The Haters are just going to find anything to complain about, no use in arguing with them.

That's my core issue with the idea. Avatar misses the point to Animal Kingdom whose main focus is our relationship to animals.

Sure Avatar has these great messages of conservation, education and respect to nature, but that's an abstract idea that follows the core beliefs of EPCOT more than it does DAK.

With great difficulty I'd imagine. Hard to see anyway they will be able to do it without a semi jarring transition. If it was a single attraction, then their would be any number of ways to accomplish the transition. But a full land. It is going to be jarring.

So Avatar doesnt fit DAK, but BK with unicorns, dragons, and other imaginary creatures does fit?

For all you folks who don't think AVATAR fits in with DAK, wait until you hear Joe Rohde give his pitch. You'll be a believer then!

Yes it fits because its focus are on animals that have shaped the imagination of entire cultures and myths. Even the old continental theme of AK, it fits with. Asia, Africa, Dinoland - North America, BK - Europe.
