Here now and it's been pouring rain the whole time. The sign outside said 60 minutes but as we walked up the cast members were telling everyone it was actually two and a half hours. Why not just update the sign if you know it's that long?

Now it's saying 180 on the app... I had high hopes.

Has anyone else started to wonder how they could use this ride system for other attractions.

Here's a few I think would be fun:

(Disney)
Pete's Dragon- Eliot flying over Passamaquoddy.
Rescuer's Down Under- Marahute flying over the outback.

(Non-Disney IP)
The Hobbit- Eagles flying over Middle Earth
The Neverending Story- FALCOR!!!
Game of Thrones- Riding one of Daenery's three dragons over Westeros (this would be the best as there would be an interactive element- every time you say "Dracarys" everything gets torched.)

Update.

For those who are watching standby times todays currently showing 135 minutes is due to monsoon like rains all morning, not due to what some are hoping is a drastic reduction in interest.

Does anyone think the format of counting guests for the pre-show and ride will change? It seems quite disorganized so far.

I will say one thing that I noticed during the ride but I think it's something to do with the original film....the lack of a great, recognizable soundtrack.
James Horner's music made the movie. So many goose bump-inducing themes...In my honest opinion the "I See You" theme pull at the heartstrings like nothing else. Especially in the ride: the vocal Toruk theme...the music in the cave...but the finale when the theme played was when I really couldn't hold back tears. But I am a LONG time fan of James Horner's work so his themes always strike an emotional chord for me.

We went to AK and rode FoP last week. My husband, who is 5'11 and about 300 lbs (wears size 3x in shirt and 46 in shorts), tried the test seat and the CM told him that there was little chance of him fitting. My husband then asked if he could get his fastpass changed to the river ride since he couldn't ride FoP. The CM said he had to try fitting first at the ride and would be given a fastpass for the other ride if he did not fit. He didn't want to because he didn't want to be further embarrassed. It is a good thing that he did, because he fit and was able to ride it two times without any trouble...no pushing on the restraint to fit or anything. I am not going to lie, he was snug, but not uncomfortable.

What did you guys think of the ride?

I've seen some reviews where people didn't like it as much but it seems to be related to the 3D glasses. I know my friend had issues when he rode on Sunday...maybe they need to re-design them somehow

Mine almost fell off at the beginning - it took me out of the experience to have to keep adjusting them. I do wear glasses, so I thought that might have been the issue, but my mom and husband who do not also said they had problems keeping them on.

I wear glasses and had no issues, maybe certain pairs are getting worn out or just the "one size fits all" model isn't really fitting all for them.

Does anyone know if the 3D type being used is different than the newer ones like Star Tours?

Do you mind saying what time you noticed it was around 40 minutes? Just curious. I will be there next Monday, and trying to decide if Rope Drop or late evening is the better time to ride it.
Rope drop. We waited under an hour on the 28th for FoP and had a great breakfast afterwords with no wait at Satu'li Canteen. It should be even less now that time has passed, but it is a stunning experience!

The current rides in the world that are so articulately told story wise, but are also super technologically advanced is a prestigious honor.

Flight of Passage makes the what I believe is the best of the best easily, along with POTC: Battle for the sunken treasure, Mystic Manor, Journey to the Center of the Earth, Forbidden Journey, Radiator Springs Racers, Tower of Terror (HWS), Splash Mountain, Indy & Spidey.

It will be become a modern classic and hold that for decades.
