Im taking a few newbies this year with me to the world and we have 4 days in disney and two in universal with no down time. So for the sake of seeing the best of disney is there any attraction you feel isnt worth bothering to even show them? i understand that since its something disney almost everything should be seen once, but hey, its worth a discussion, no?

the newbies are 25 and 27 and very excited to go.

So far, i know im not going to encourage a visit to the Narnia soundstage and sounds dangerous. but is there anything else.

(of course this is more about them so ill do everything if need be):sohappy:

Just do what you can do. There is nothing I can say that is worth skipping for random people. People enjoy different things. You can't do it all so plan to try other things with them on future trips.

Well, you've mentioned the two that I would skip but then I've done them. You might get a good tour guide and let the two decide what they would like to do and plan from there with the caveat that once inside the parks things can change.

Without knowing your guests,

At MK: Tiki Room, Swiss Family Robinson, the Steamboat(name?), Snow White

EPCOT: Maelstrom, Journey into Imagination, Nemo

DHS: Backlot tour

AK: Prime Evil Whirl. The more "zoo-like" aspects they could see at any local zoo?

At Universal & IOA:
Fear Factor, ET unless they are huge ET fans, Dr. Doom, Sinbad Show, Poseiden Show, Seuss Landing.

You probably already know that the main idea is to get there early and do the most popular attractions first. That leaves time later in the day for the rest and maybe the ones I named.

I think you can skip Stitch's Great Escape and I know some people won't agree with me but depending on time and their ages you can skip the little kids rides like Snow White, Pooh, Peter Pan and the Speedway.

4 days at the world should enable you to see almost all attractions! But if I have to skip things:

MK: Tommorrowland Motor Speedway, Astro Orbitors (except at night it is totally worth the view), COP (I'd never skip this but may not have the same charm to non hardcore fans on time constraints), SGE.

EC: JIYI, movies in countries.

HS: Sounds Dangerous, Narnia, LMA

AK: Dinoland except for Dinosaur...but maybe skip that too.

We just went on our first trip last summer. We had 8 days but if we only had 4 here is what we would have done:

I would suggest skipping the rides that you can find at any amusement park or carnival like Dumbo and its carpet and dino clones, as well as the tea cups.

Other than that it would depend on the group. If they are not interested in the different countries then you could spend a lot more time in Future World. But then again My 16 year old son absolutely loved the countries, but I think that was more due to the pretty foreign girls (be careful in Italy, I think we almost lost him there). lol

I agree with previous posters about AK. See the attractions and then fill the rest of your time there seeing the animal attractions because they are really not that different than a typical zoo, although the AK was our favorite park theme wise. We just loved spending too much time enjoying the atmosphere even thought it was soooo much hotter there than any of the other parks.

At studios we concentrated on the attractions including multiple rides and then saw shows later in the day although I do not think this was an economical use of our time.

My biggest suggestion though is to get them the unofficial guide and subscribe to the touring plans web site and pick out a touring plan for each park skipping attractions you are not interested in. That helped us out immensely.

And finally use your time wisely. After day 4 we had a break down and spent all of day five in the bed (we did get up for breakfast and then again for the Spirit of Aloha show) but that rest day was not an option and ended up really making the trip nice. Also be sure to get to the parks at rope drop. You will see a lot more due to not fighting the crowds and depending on the time of the year the weather will be nicer.

I leave in 10 days and i'm taking my boyfriend with me. It's his first time going and we only have just 2 DAYS in Disney and 2 in Universal (planned this trip at the last minute!) We planned on spending 1 whole day at Magic Kingdom and then the next day going to Epcot and Hollywood Studios (skipping Animal Kingdom.) With such little time, I figured we would skip Stitch, Seas w/ Nemo and Friends, Figment, and basically all of the shows except Fantasmic.

This.
Let them make the call about what is most important to them after reviewing what is available. And get to the parks early to maximize your time.

Tiki Room? Maelstrom?

Don't listen to him in this case. Maelstrom is the only really interesting though minor attraction World Showcase has to offer and the Tiki Room reopens in a few days with a return of something like the classic show.

Newbies always want to do the following...

DHS
Rockin Roller Coaster
Tower of Terror

Epcot
Soarin
Test Track
Mission Space
See Illuminations

MK
Space Mountain
Splash Mountain

Schedule the *usuals* and go from there. Think about it, there's no wrong way to do Disney  You can always get a map at the start of each park, let your guests choose, and make your suggestions. Regardless, I am sure they will have a great time! :sohappy:

I hope you have a good time - but I have to say that EPCOT really needs a full day (at least....IMO). I suggest 3 days at Disney and 1 day at Universal (if at all....but I'm biased).

I think that one of the first few posters was right - everyone has different likes/dislikes. I see people mentioning a lot of attractions to skip that I would never miss and vice versa. Yes - even 10 minutes to see Swiss Family Robinson's Tree house is worth not skipping it! Someone suggested skipping movies in World Showcase. O'Canada is fantastic and I also really like the movies in France and China...and even Norway! Again, everyone is different.

MK: Swiss Family Treehouse, Mad Tea Party, Stitch
Epcot: The Seas with Nemo and Friends
Hollywood Studios: Backlot Tour, Lights Motors Action, Fantasmic
Animal Kingdom: Everything except Dinosaur, Expedition Everest, Kali River Rapids, and Kilimanjaro Safaris

We have gone frequently and these are the ones we still haven't done or didn't care for so they would be my suggestion to skip.

MK - Hall of presidents, Country Bear Jamboree
AK - Rafiki planet watch (didn't like)
Epcot - Captain EO (didn't like)
HS - All ok to see once.

I think you have the right idea.....not what to skip but what not to miss!

This is my mentality as well. When advising or going with first timers I always find out what they want to do and what their interests are and plan for that. I think you will find that if you prioritize what you really want and must do, the rest will just weed itself out. The key is not to just maximize how many attractions you can see, but maximize the enjoyment of the trip. Just remember, one persons must skip is somebody elses must do.

I believe no one can say what to skip. I would totally skip a bunch of stuff but my mom or my sister love them, so it depends on each person. The best way to go is to prioritize what each one of them want to do and then if you have time do the rest
