Attractions question

Due to medical reasons, I was wondering if y'all can help me out. I am visiting the parks next month and was wondering which rides included strobes or strobe light effects, so I can make sure to close my eyes or avoid them all together.

Space Mountain is one ride that comes to mind that uses strobe lights. You go through a tunnel at the beginning with blue strobe lights flashing.

I not sure of this one, just before the end of EE if the yeti is not moving they run a strobe, and certain areas of test track has flashing lights. You might have some trouble at the end of Buzz, they take pics and the flash is at least every second or so. And you may also have a problem with the fireworks, they do flash when they explode. Now to some that may not seem like much, but, not knowing how sensative you are to flashes may make a big difference. They also flash on EE just as you go down the big drop, repetative because they have to get all the cars as they fly by. Not sure of anything else, but there should be someone on Disney property who might be able to answer all your questions.

Space Mountain has no strobe lighting; just chasing bulbs, changing about 4 a second.

Do you have a problem with photos being taken (single or a few flashes)? If so, be aware Splash Mountain takes your piccy but outside (would riding in the day help?), Test Track takes it, Spaceship takes it in the dark, as does Rock n Rollercoaster (in the dark with multiple flashes) and the same with Everest - plus the Yeti has a slow strobe in B mode as mentioned above.

On top of these, be aware Pirates of the Caribbean has one storm scene with lightning flashes (not rapid) and if I recall Snow Whites Scary Adventures has lightning effects too (someone can back me up)

Stitches Great Escape has brief groups of strobe flashes in the dark. Ellens Energy Adventure has one or two in a dimly lit space. Same with Maelstrom. Living with the Land has a storm scene, though the flashes are directed at the scenery.

Star Tours has bright flashes on screen, with strobes in the cabin, but nothing longer than maybe a half second. Tower of Terror has lightning effects in the preshow and main ride.

From what I remember, but I'm not 100% sure, there are notices on the rides/attractions that use the "strobe" effect. There are many people out there that are sensitive to them, so I believe they have that posted before you go on the ride. If I'm remembering right, they list it on the same signs that warn about sudden stops and drops and heart problems. Just take a quick read through those and if they don't list anything, you can just ask any of the cast members at that specific ride, they will for sure know if there are strobes being used or not.

Yes, Snow White has flashing lightning effects. So does the Tiki Room, along with flashing lights. I agree, when in doubt read the signs and ask the CM's.

Avoid Dinosaur if i remeber correctly the first scene (as you go back in time) has some heavy strobing.

Sorry.... Dinosaur. I forgot. Heavy full-on strobing twice in the ride, and flashes throughout.

Yeah, I'd say Dinosaur would be the only attraction where there are heavy strobes. They are located at the beginning and end of the ride, so watch out. Thats the only one I'd really be worried about.

Also, depending on your sensitivity, attractions like Rock n Roller Coaster and Expedition Everest take everyones picture at the beginning and halfway through the ride respectively. This results in multiple flashbulbs gong off for about two or three seconds, so you may want to be careful with that.

I was watching a video of Splash Mountain yesterday and noticed there are blue stobe effects before the big plunge and it got me concerned bc I want to ride SM so badly.

I usually read the signs but only ever noticed them warning that people with heart problems or pregnant women should not ride them.

I honestly can't recall any strobes being used on Splash Mountain, so if they do use any, it's probably very brief and just before the plunge, so you can probably just close your eyes at that point. I hope you don't have to miss Splash!!

I will also agree with what several people have said about Dinosaur. IMO, this ride uses alot more strobes than any other attraction in WDW. Definitely avoid Dinosaur.

There are strobes in The Universe of Energy as you leave the dinosaur section.

I think the Splash video you saw must have had light issues. There are no strobe lights before the plunge. The only brief flashes are from your photo as you drop. There did used to be lightning flashes behind the vultures but I didn`t see them working recently.

I agree - Dinosaur will be the most intense strobe effect. The entry and exit portals have a good 3-4 seconds of constant flashes in a confined space.

when you arrive at your hotel ask the concierge desk they should be able to help if not when you get into a park find the help desk and ask them. if all else fails read the warnings before you go on ANY ride and that will tell you if there are strobe effects. good luck

I wont. Does the maelstrom have strobe effects. I've always wanted to ride this but never have because I'm usually there when there are LONG lines.
