Yay, Star Wars!

I agree that the "crush" is uncomfortable, and who knows WHAT she sees in him, but we've all known it was going to happen because how else would Luke and Leia have been conceived if their parents had never hooked up?

Episode 1 was by far the worst of the series, but it did have a few saving graces. Young Anakin was one of them. JJ Binks was a terrible idea and though I am a vegetarian, Jar Jar ribs might be tasty :slurp:

My brother and me always used to watch the Star Wars series together, and for us, he biggest thing missing from Episodes 1 and 2 is Harrison Ford. He has no place there, so we can't complain, but still, we miss Han!

The young Ani was the best thing of that series but .. both I and II seem to me at times just to be "pretty". Like George Lucas is showing off what they can do with computers and there are very few REAL sets. Okay sorry I got off on a tangent didn't I?

I also watched the series with my little brother but he um.. thinks he's too cool to go see the new movies with me LOL. Hans is definately a type of character that is miss (and not only cause I have had a think for Harrison Ford since I was little.. I always wanted to be Leia lol). It's the whole bad guy gone good personality that I miss.. (I mean we are going to have a good guy turn bad but it's not quite the same.)

Erika... you know that there is supposed to be a new Indy movie after Episode III is done right? We'll get Harrison Ford back!!! *woohoo* ... opps.. sorry.. a little excited LOL.

IMHO - The first half of Jedi was fantastic, the whole Jabba's palace sequence is easily one of the best sequences. The ewoks added a cute factor to what otherwise would've been a very dark movie.

In AOTC the love scenes were a bit corny and awkward, but remember the supposed age of Anakin, around 18. Weren't alot of us extremely awkward at 18, I know i was. Also remember who the author is, The great flanneled one doesn't write very good love scenes. Hayden's acting was a bit forced, but then so was Mark Hamil's. Look at how whiny he was in "A New Hope".

What was the line- "But I wanted to go to the Taji station to pick up some power converters!!"

It's been a while so I probably massacared it.

I liked 2 things from Episode 1...I liked the Darth Maul lightsaber battle...and I liked young Anakin. I thought this child prodigy was portrayed wonderfully.

In my opinion...the quality of the Star Wars movies is like this:
Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back
Episode IV - A New Hope
Episode II - Attack of the Clones
Episode VI - Return of the Jedi (ewoks...yummy)
Episode I - Phantom Menace (any Jar Jar-B-Que Ribs?)

(Episode V being the best)
I thought Hayden did a wonderful job!
and While I liked Empire stikes back I liked it least of all!

Well, at least I didn't get flamed, BBQ'd, tar-and-feathered from saying I didn't like #2. And I was glad to see that I wasn't alone so that it wasn't just me. Yes, I remember it being awkward at 18, but I wasn't a whiny-butt brat like Anakin was and I'm sure that my real-life was better than his acting. And if he's 18, here's my point--you would expect a 28 year old woman with the responsibility that has been thrust upon her would have handled the situation better than she did (at what point did she actually fall for him?). Yes, I know the love story had to come about at some time or Episodes 4-6 would have vanished into thin air. I just think it could have been handled tremendously better.

Rankings: 6, 4, 5, 1, 2. No ranking on 3 for me after being so disappointed with 2.

13 year old son's ranking: 2, 6, 1, 5, 4.

I was hoping you would agree with me about Hayden, and you did! ... While everyone is ranking the films .... here goes... (even though this is really hard because I like them all)

Episode 5
Episode 2
Episode 6
Episode 1
Episode 4

I predict Episode III to be really good.. too bad we have to wait till 2005

And here is the load-of-crap official response I got from Best Buy in regards to my problem:

************************************************
Thank you for contacting Best Buy about price matching. I'm Lisa with
Consumer Relations.

We are sorry if you were disappointed by our price match policy. Best
Buy has made the decision to not offer a price match from Toys R Us as
they are not an electronics store and therefore not considered a
competitor.

Best Buy offers a price match guarantee to protect customers from
sudden price drops. If within 30 days (14 days for computers, computer
peripherals, radar detectors, camcorders, and digital cameras) of you
purchase, you find the same product offered at a lower price, we will refund
that difference plus another 10% of the difference.

This offer is good on new, factory sealed, products of the same brand
and model that are available in-stock at any other local authorized
retailer. If the lower advertised price is a Best Buy price, within the
product return time frame, you will receive an adjustment for the lower
price during the advertisement time frame. It does not apply to
competitor's bonus specials, free offers, or any Internet pricing.

Thank you for sharing your comments with Best Buy. Please do not
hesitate to contact us with additional questions or concerns.

Best wishes from Best Buy,
Lisa and the Consumer Relations Team

I just had a revelation: Perhaps there is a method to the madness. Maybe, just maybe it isn’t by accident that the young Anakin’s were port raid in such an obnoxious and hollow manner. I mean think about it. If I’m right than George Lucas truly is a genus. We have to start not liking him some day, right? He is on his way to being a bad guy. Perhaps this is an outside of the box way of stirring those feelings inside us! (Sort if like the “mouse tails” in Honey I shrunk the Audience)

So much more makes sense when you think about it this way!..

Whew! Now I don’t feel bad about getting excited when he lost the arm! :lookaroun

I agree, Mr P- I think we are supposed to see him as a brat...wait a minute...Hmmmm, boy with troubled past becomes bad-*ss...Are we still talking about Anakin?

Still, I wish they could have shown us SOMETHING to explain why Padme falls for him. I guess that's just Stupid Girl Syndrome.

Ahem...much like real life Erika...the girl wants the "bad boy"
(and you don't get any "badder" than Darth Vader  )

(Think about it...Yoda...good guy...Obi-Wan...good guy...Qui Gonn...good guy...Luke...good guy (NO GIRLS!!!) )

Anakin...bad boy...Han....bad boy (BOTH GET THE GIRLS!)

Hmm... After leaving here last night, I started to watch a little bit of the movie and what strikes me as odd about the whole "love" thing is that in the scene just before they kiss for the first time (where she breaks it off and says "I shouldn't have done that", she shows obvious annoyance with him when he tries bossing her around in regards to security on her home planet. Then the next thing you know they are rolling around in the grass. I didn't get that much further but I think the reason so many people find it hokey is because it isn't explained very well... They could have even gone with the love-hate thing and it would have come off better in my opinion.

And WDWFREAK, Darthy isn't a "bad boy" yet. He is just an impatient brat prone to throwing minor tantrums. Seems like a lot has changed for the character over the past ten years from him being the grateful slave child.
