So which one are you keeping :hilarious:
*My wife (3 weeks ago): I posted on the neighborhood FB that once we get theyre shots theyre free to a good home!

*My wife (2 days ago): Theyre both so cute I guess we'll keep both!

Keep in mind since 3 weeks ago until the other day, there has been no discussion about us keeping them or finding them homes. I knew what the outcome would be so I just let her work it out in her own mind without getting involved 🤣

This is absolutely true. One of the most amazing parts of my job is watching the bond between the dog and its handler (human) become so strong.

In Zeldas case, her young human (with autism) was non verbal and would withdraw and become anxious/frustrated in certain social environments. Having Zelda by his side has helped him in so many ways to become more confident in those same environments and be relaxed. He is now verbally communicating more and even verbally expressing his emotions which is a HUGE step for children like him.

Dogs are fluent in body language (not english). Non verbal children have a deeper relationship with the dog because the dog is speaking a language the child is more comfortable with and vice versa.

I love this. I'm also loving all of these extra facts about service dogs and their training that I am learning through this report. Thanks for giving us more insight on the importance and training of service dogs. My husband's twin sister is autistic, so stories like this are so special to me.

For anybody wondering about safety of the dog in those temperatures, there are many safety protocol we use to make sure the dog is ok.

We use a non-contact laser thermometer that tells us ground/surface temperatures. Anything under 140 degrees is ok. If it's over 140, the dog doesn't go.

The dogs are acclimated physically and environmentally from a young age so they are able to withstand/endure more than the average dog.

I can check her gums, ears and belly for any warning signs of dehydration or skin irritation and also use a thermometer to check her temperature.

Edith is also on a special diet that has a much higher moisture content which allows for better hydration.

You can also see in my report the many cool down breaks we take to allow the dog to relax and cool off before heading back out, combined with an average 10-30 minute break in the kennel for attractions that the dog can't go on. And don't forget the beer breaks at Tune In, Baseline, etc 😁

I sincerely appreciate any concerns people have in regards to the safety of the dogs. I hope this information provides a better understanding of how we work/train! 🙂

If you have booties on one of your dogs at WDW and a woman thanks you for doing so the odds are good that it may be my wife.

Friday (day 5) continued

After our mid-day break at the room we headed over to Epcot. I wanted a La Fin de Monde from Canada Pavilion

The CM handed me a free water for Edith. Another freebie for the dog. She's been racking up food and drink! Lol

Next up was another attempt of trying to get FEA to be Ediths favorite ride (instead of Remmy) 😁

*Edith: why is dad so excited? It's not like this is Remmy??

Edith enjoyed it but Remmy is still #1 for her.

We made our way thru World Showcase

Friday continued

We went over to HS and met up with Zeldas family. My phones memory was full and I wasn't able to take any pics. We rode Runaway Railway and got evacd right at the end and got a free FP. We also did Star Tours and Baseline. Called it a night after that.

Saturday (day 6)

Today was my Big T Extendo day! I can't recall the last time I ever added an extra day to my trip while already at WDW. We usually add a day or two on to the beginning of the trip before we head down.

I gotta say, I can see why @Tuvalu and @TrolleyFollower91 use the extendo maneuver so often. It's a great feeling going to sleep on your original last night knowing you have a full day of Disney instead of headed home. And it definitely takes a bit of the sting out of the last day blues.

We are truly blessed to be able to visit WDW often. C and I always keep sight of that and are thankful for it.

Edith and I woke with lots of zing and pep and were ready to make the most of the day! And what better place to visit than MK!

We had a nearly empty bus and I was able to get some pics of Edith next to the area where the bus driver a few days prior had told me she needed to go under the seat

You can see how much larger and longer she is than what the area under the seats allow for.

Ca had sent some updates from Kitty City back home

Soon Edith amd I were at MK. First up was HM

The attraction stopped for a few minutes right in the middle of the room with all the doors being knocked on. I could only laugh because of course that would be where we get stuck with a dog lol. Edith didn't mind tho.

Next was Pirates. She was really figuring out the system by now and knew when it was our turn to load up

Even tho the young boy is covering his ears, trust me, he really enjoys the ride.

The kennel room there is directly on the right side when you exit the ride. There is a door on the right. There is a staircase in the room which I was surprised to see. Didn't know there was a second floor on the attraction.

Your comment about being in the room with the knocking doors made me laugh - my one dog Toby gets extremely worked up by any noise. He’s a bit better now than when he was younger, but I could only imagine him in that scene!

Here he is

Meanwhile, his brother Barley (who thinks he’s a lap dog and is the most affectionate dog I’ve ever met), tends to be better for most noises (but likes to be covered up/snuggled when possible)

Except for thunder. That then gets him like this:

I'll be finishing this report today (hopefully). Works been busy as schools are out for fall break and we have lots of dogs boarding. But here's some pics of Edith (ears up!) when I tortured her yesterday by dragging her around the play yard. Please everybody like this photo so I can move up on the charts of wdwmagic "most likes"!

Of course I'm joking. You don't need to like these. I'm not desperate to pass Martin like some members are. And I am NOT referring to Big T.
