As you said...Theory/Practice. I think HM is fine.

LOL I didn't say it wasn't.

What I did say is that it's queue design goes against the optimal way to use the Omnimover ride system, so I hope this new Omnimover ride takes full advantage of the system.

Show>Efficiency

It's never about the ride system, it's about the best way to convey the story. I'd rather have a great preshow and less capacity than no preshow.

I think some might disagree with you. You can have a completely immersive queue without stopping everyone in a big room to show them a movie, or listen to a spiel - for instance, Splash Mountain or The Seas with Nemo.

Preshows are, more often than not, added for loading neccesity and not simply to add to the story. A new Omnimover ride does not have any need to stagger the guests, and sending out empty Omnimover vehicles just isn't necessary for a still immersive experience.

Need isn't what I'm talking about. I'm talking about enhancing the show. Without the stretch room, HM wouldn't be the attraction it is without it.

And sure, you can have an immersive experience without one, but you can make it even better with one.:D

Pre-Shows are done to assist in loading, but also to keep people entertained when they would otherwise be waiting in the queue.

Test Track, Tower of Terror, Dinosaur and Haunted Mansion all operate in a similar fashion (although with the first two, there's more of a wait after the pre-show). The pre-show kind of lull's people into a false sense where they feel they're not waiting as long as they think, however you can sometimes wait 15-20 minutes after the preshows at Test Track and Tower of Terror.

Some small new info on DCA's but since both are suppose to be the same (interior wise) from OC Register's Around Disney Blog has some info and a small clip of Bob Weis talking about the attraction, mentioning that it will have some of the most advanced AA's and Ursula will stand at 8 feet tall. No new art that we havent seen already, it seems that the part with Bob Weis is from July when Blue Sky Cellar was updated.

Oh yes, it's lovely. ;)

However, it does defeat the purpose of the Omnimover ride system.

Those may seem like opposing thoughts, but they really aren't.

I'm not sure it necessarily "defeats the purpose." Afterall, an omnimover system may be implemented because it might the best way to take guests through a particular show. A pre-show element may not take advantage of its potential throughput, but the purpose of the system as a whole isn't necessarily defeated.

I think we mostly agree, however.

Hopefully they learned from their mistakes with the Yeti on the Ursula one.

That's a great teaser video! And Bob Weiss specifically mentions that Little Mermaid is on the scale of "Major E Ticket" Disneyland attractions! If Bob Weiss is throwing around the E Ticket phrase, it must be a major attraction.

I fully expect the next update/change-out to DCA's Blue Sky Cellar this summer to feature the Little Mermaid attraction for 2011, just as the last change-out last summer moved the Cellar spotlight to World of Color for 2010.

Which again begs the question I've asked repeatedly, when is the Fantasyland Expansion project going to get it's own Preview Center like DCA's current Blue Sky Cellar preview center??? But at least the WDW kids get to see the Little Mermaid come to life at DCA first, and can check out the Blue Sky Cellar updates later this year for Little Mermaid news and sneak peeks. :D

Let's hope it's nothing like that piece of crap AA...

Well, I wouldn't call it crap by any means. It's an amazing effect when working; one of a kind, too. It was just planned horribly.

BTW, is it the actual AA that isn't working or is its surroundings affecting it? I've heard the ground around it is slowly cracking and giving way.

Well, I call it crap because it simply doesn't work and hasn't for, what, like 2-years? And before that, it was spotty at best.

It doesn't matter how lovely it may be, it just doesn't operate, so yeah, it's a crappy AA imho, no matter what part of the system is at fault.

So I hope Ursula is completely different - a large AA that actually works. ;)

So, I never went to WDW years ago when they had the ticket books with the A, B, C, D, E tickets, but I do understand that we still sometimes refer to rides today using these designations. I get that ToT and EE are 'E' ticket attractions and I've read many of you refer to TSM as a good 'D' ticket attraction.

My question is: Why is Ariel's Adventure referred to as an 'E' ticket on here? It seems as though it might be a pumped up version of 'The Seas with Nemo and Friends'. What exactly makes a ride an 'E' as opposed to a 'D'?
