The ride seems great but doesn't it seem a little short?
I mean you go through only so many rooms. Think of how big HM is compared to this! Shouldn't it be bigger?

So I assume this will have a similar capacity to Haunted Mansion?

Typically omnimovers don't use fastpass, although both stateside versions of Haunted Mansion have used it, and although not an omnimover, Pirates of the Caribbean used fast pass in Disneyland.

Part of me expects them to use fastpass for this attraction for the first few years. In California they seem to be less inclined to use fastpass, so I'm not sure if that will be an indication for what we would expect in Florida.

I know it was mentioned that Radiator Springs Racers will use fastpass (which was to be expected), but did this come up at D23 at all? Did anyone ask any imagineers about this?

I think John Lasseter stoped using fastpass in the new rides. I know the new submarine voyage doesn't use fastpass. Does Midway Mania use fastpass? I remember reading that the DCA version does not. Im guessing Little mermaid will not use fastpass either.

Lasseter was also adamant about stop stuffing a gift shop at the end of every single attraction so don't expect a gift shop at the end of the ride either (thankfully!)

Yea, no fastpass at Midway Mania! at DCA but there is a shop at the exit, its kinda small though.

I don't mind the gift shops its just that I don't want them shoved down my throat when I exit the attraction or forced to walk thru one.

Gift shops are fine, as long as they continue the theming/story of the attraction, and contain attraction/land-specific merchandise.

I agree, it's all about execution. The shop at the Tower of Terror actually enhances the attraction, because lots of hotels have gift shops, and some of the merchandise is themed to the HTH and not the ToT specifically. It makes the ride feel complete in a way it wouldn't if you just stepped off the elevator and out into the sunshine. But a lot of ride shops are just a bunch of racks o' stuff you have to wade through--Pooh, for example.

I wonder if Ariel's Adventure will be anything like the ride that they show on The Little Mermaid DVD. The DVD says that you can experience the theme park ride that was almost built. The ride they show is a dark ride and looks like it would be awesome. The ride can be found on The Games & Activities part of the DVD.

That would be fine with me...except I hope they don't close the ride with "Kiss the Girl"- I hope that the ride follows the story-line more. The narrator gives a reason why they were planning to end the ride with "Kiss the Girl" but, it just feel kind of akward to me- and I think to anyone (which is mostly everyone!) who has seen the movie.

California seems to have an aversion to fast pass. The rides that have it, use it almost reluctantly. Indiana Jones is a perfect example - they merge you before the large indoor queue keeping most of the standby queue outside. It's wasted much like the switchbacks are wasted in Disney World's Space Mountain. I enjoy how in WDW the fastpass lines bring you almost to the entrance of the ride.

I saw a discussion with a Carsland imagineer where she mentioned that the courthouse was initially going to be fast pass distribution for Radiator Springs Racers but they decided to move the machines elsewhere.

Someone already posted it, but Toy Story Midway Mania at DCA and Nemo Submarine Voyage in Disneyland do not use fast pass. The capacity for the Subs is very low, so fastpass would lengthen what are already very long lines for that attraction. I think Toy Story could definitely accomodate fastpass at DCA. I understand people's aversion to it, but I think fastpass should be implemented on anything and everything. People don't really need it on the high capacity attractions, but if it takes a few people away from getting fast passes for the larger attractions I support it.

IMO, fastpass is more useful when you have more attractions implementing it. A look at the Magic Kingdom on an average attendance day will see the return times for Splash Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain less than two hours away, whereas on the same day, Soarin' or Toy Story Mania will have their return times 3+ hours away.
