It's a permanent staple of Disneyland, despite misguided removals in the past.

You visit Disneyland pretty often. How often do you stop by the Opera House to see the Lincoln show? When was the last time you saw it?

While $83K seems like a lot of money to the average person it's chump change for a multi-billion dollar media company. I read somewhere recently that each showing of Fantasmic! costs $70K plus, so I wouldn't read too much into the installation of some pricey safety features on a Toontown rooftop.

But the costs of Fantasmic sounds like chump change, too, less even than the safety installations.

Well, yeah, and that's my point. If they are spending that kind of money per show per night for Fantasmic! then it puts the cost of the Toontown work you mentioned in perspective, doesn't it?

I believe Roger Rabbit is on the chopping block. I'm surprised it's lasted this long. Sure, they occasionally bring out the character, but it's just not a marketable film for them. Isn't there some kind of legal issue because of AMBLIN Entertainment co-owning the characters? Disney also paid off the author of the novel years ago. They even blatantly ripped it off with that stupid Bonkers cartoon show. I'm surprised Iger hasn't axed it and tried to get everyone to forget about this "mistake" of a film that featured characters from opposing studios.

Roger Rabbit is one of the greatest Films Disney has ever produced.

I agree completely. It's in my top 3 Disney films along with Return to Oz and The Rocketeer. Unfortunately, the film has become a cult film despite being a massive hit when it originally opened and Roger being such a prominent character for Disney from the time of the movie's release into the 90s. You would never be able to tell these days!

Yes all three are great. Return to Oz is CLASSIC!

On another note. I think Cartoon Spin is good dark ride but I think the imagineers obviously played down some of the Films darker elements because of its placement in Toontown.
No judge doom, etc.

Interesting idea but my gut tells me that with the SW expansion, they are pretty much tapped out expanding Disneyland. Anything new to come will likely be at the cost of something that currently exists i.e. Toontown, Autopia, Subs, etc.

If that's the case, maybe they should remove older stuff first. I'm not particularly fond of removing the Autopia, because it was an opening-day attraction and literally the only Tomorrowland attraction still around from day one, but I wouldn't be nearly as broken up about its removal as I would be at Toontown's removal.

I'm the opposite. There's something special, a rite of passage, for kids and parents to enjoy Autopia together and something very special about that first time your daughter/son can ride by themselves. I have never been overly fond of Toontown though I will admit that Roger is a fantastic dark ride.

The Lincoln AA is the most impressive human figure in any Disney park.

What exactly do you propose they put in the Opera House? I mean, what can you really fit in that space? It's like when people propose they replace the Tiki Room. With what? Where? How?

Well, I mean have you seen the Shanghai AA, those are what I call impressive...

My point was that $70,000 is still somewhat less than $83,000, by 13,000. The work in Toontown is about fixtures that assure its remaining for at least a little while longer.

Hasn't it been established that whenever Disney spends money on anything, they spend way too much? The construction projects in Florida are a prime example. They allegedly spend huge amounts of money, the work takes forever and people are left underwhelmed and scratching their heads. You don't actually think they spend $20,000 on a hammer? $30,000 on a toilet seat? Do you?

I'd rather see Toontown bite the dust before Autopia. I'm saying this as a fan of Toontown.

Or maybe they could reduce the track of the Autopia but still keep it, just make it shorter. That should clear out at least a little space for something else. That way, the Autopia AND Toontown can remain.

I would be down with that if I trusted Disney's current decision-making, which I don't. Tomorrowland is already a mess, I'm just waiting for them to destroy it even more.

In California, however, the Opera House is home to Mr. Lincoln. Again, a few other attractions have come in, including the same old Walt Disney Story, replacing Mr. Lincoln. But I seem to recall that people were upset that Mr. Lincoln was gone, and they demanded his return, which they did.

Will there ever be a point where the demand drops? Those people have to be dying off. The outrage can't last forever, can it? I think Disney should ignore the complaints if they have a good use for the space. I love the history of the attraction and have a fondness for it, but they don't need to keep it around for the nostalgia crowd.

I like the idea of moving it to the Disney museum.

You really think they should risk offending these people?
