Are you 23?

Yeah, but that's different. That's to go to the park and have a good time. Not to buy into a club.

How is it different? You moan and complain about how bad the quality and 'vision' of the parks is/are. Why are you paying the Disney premium if you don't enjoy them? Go to Universal, Six Flags, whatever. All of the others are cheaper.

You can't have it both ways. You can't complain that something they are offering is too expensive and then complain they are cutting corners to get the costs down.

I WILL NOT spend more than $20 to "prove" I am a Disney fan...

Let us be real here. We all spend thousands every year to prove that we are Disney fans.

So how much do you pay for your WDWMagic membership every year? :lookaroun

I gladly spend that! :D

No spending is done to prove you're a Disney fan. Spending is done because you ARE a Disney fan. We all have different levels that we're willing/able to spend. Some of us (Evan) buy any kind of old Epcot stuff on Ebay. Some of us (me) have spent way too much on WDCC figures (although I haven't bought any in a few years). Others (Richard) make it a whole career. And others (Monty) go so often that the waiters know him!

So if Disney offers a fan club with a price tag of (prediction) $100/year, some will join, and some will not. Ok by me.

Yes, however the "implication" of "are YOU 23" is like asking "Aren't you a member of the Official Club". Therefore implying that by not being a member of "23" means somehow we are not the "best" fans, or the "real" fans.

Clearly it looks as though the web programmers goofed as the countdown seems to be off depending on your time zone.
Or it's set for noon in each time zone to 'stagger' the launch? Then maybe the site won't crash when everybody tries at once?

Nah, Disney's web folks aren't that good!

You could also say the same thing about DVC, TiW and AP's. Disney entices you to join these "clubs" with particular benefits and makes you feel somewhat special by doing so.

If that was the case then our UK buddy here could report on what this whole 23 thing is.
