I stayed at Movies in May, and decided I would never stay at another value resort (money allowing, of course). There are a variety of reasons, but I think the main reason is because of the insane number of people serviced by a single food court/main building. We came back to the hotel after a long day in the park looking to buy a small treat, but the lines were sometimes 20 people deep. Pair that with screaming children everywhere, and it was a recipe for disaster. I don't mind the long walks, but as I've gotten older my values have shifted from neat theming to comfort and low stress.

Yeah...we tend to try to time our food court visits so we don't hit the huge crowds...plus, we adore breakfast buffets, so breakfast at a value resort is a rarity for us. They definitely need more staff working during the busy hours, so I count this as a fail on management's part.

Yeah I definitely agree with you. It's always such a mob in there, way too stressful.

It really bothers me that people are so snobby and mean about staying at the values. There's nothing WRONG with them...they're decorated with "in-your-face" Disney for kiddos.
This.

I stayed at the All Star Movies once and I was told by someone that when they go to Disney they "do it right" and stay at deluxe hotels.
Excuse me? I don't go to WDW to stay at the hotel the whole damn time and if I did want that, I would go somewhere else where the theming is better and much cheaper.

Everyone has an opinion, right? What's worth the money to one family may not be worth it to another family. That's the nice thing about the tiered system, I suppose. Families can stay at certain places depending on what they want to spend and many other factors.

Yes, that is correct but someone better not tell me I do Disney wrong because it's not up to their standards.
I wouldn't pay for a deluxe room. If someone wants to, more power to them but I won't say they are wrong. That person literally looked down on me and my family and said she did Disney right if not she wouldn't go. That's not a No to me, that's a HELL NO

I'm right there with you. The snobbery of some people is unbelievable, and as I stated before, I've seen people who "wouldn't stoop to stay at a value resort" behave like they're nothing but trash.

I share your sentiments. One person shouldn't care one bit about the ideals/values of another.

we’ve stayed at ASM many times. never did we feel like we’re being looked down at for staying there. the resort serves its purpose. wouldn’t hesitate staying there again. value...moderate...deluxe...you’re still in disney either way.

I don't get the issues some people have with where others stay. Whether it's someone like this or someone who says people who stay at deluxes are snobs or wasteful. It's like the whole fat/skinny shaming. It's stupid and serves no purpose. Disney has something for everyone and that's great!

We all have opinions on what's good in a resort and what's not. We'll never all agree what is good or bad and that's totally fine. Some don't like values and some do.

I agree, judging a family solely based on where they stay is pointless and redundant. But, in the grand scheme of things, who cares. Honestly, if someone saying your family does Disney "wrong" (is if there were a wrong way to do it) bothers you that much, then you should reevaluate your problems. I mean, c'mon people, we al have the luxury of being able to attend Disney World, our lives could be so much worse. Don't sweat the small stuff like someone saying you do Disney the wrong way. Turn the other cheek and walk away. As our beloved ice princess would say, let it go.

I know I don't get bent out of shape of someone tells me I am doing it won't or think differently, but many do it seems. Like I had someone who was making fun of another for not spending all day in the parks. She went on as to how wasteful it was. I looked at her with a smile and told her that I certainly do not do that and spend hours at the resort every day - not sleeping either. She stopped making fun of the other person, but looked at me like I was nuts. I just laughed. Much like resorts we all have our wants. People really shouldn't care on both sides what others do. When someone gets bent out of shape I'm tempted to find that Elsa song too ;)

Down the road once the Skyliner is completed I'm sure Pop & AoA will not be specified as Values. I'm going to say that it will become a "Val-Mod" Hotel (A Value hotel with Moderate Prices)....Just watch..

This makes sense. I bet you're right. I wonder, though, if they will bump them up to moderate, just bump the prices up, or create a whole new tier.

I personally think the deluxe resorts are a waste of money if you're planning on not spending any real time at the hotel. If you need only a bed and a shower, why waste $$$? Book a dinner show or a sit-down meal instead. I'm glad the value and moderate resorts exist, since many families can't afford the $500 per night deluxe prices. I think it's the Catholic in me -- I can't justify the expense when I know others don't have the privilege.
