Are they really gonna build the new snow white ride?

Entirely true.
It'll be interesting to see how much of a spotlight that ride gets at D23. If a lot, that would bode well for it. If not...they better think ip something new for MK and Shanghai with some haste...

I knew when the plans were changing that the middle plot of FLE would suffer development woes. I gotta say, it worries me. Especially with how long 20,000 Leagues just sat there. I could foresee a nicely themed, lush garden going right in the middle. Housing outdoor meet and greets for years to come. It could be called "The Festival of Fantasy Gathering Spot". :lookaroun

And somewhere an exec read that and is ready to pitch this cost saving feature to a higher up!!

I highly doubt Staggs would let this happen.

The budget will probably be cut a bunch of times by the time they are ready to build it, and it'll look like Goofy's Flying School, except they'll paint Snow White all over the walls.

That's a bit too pessimistic. Maybe have a few Snow White statues to decorate the queue, and seven dwarfs mural.

To be clear, if the mine train never comes to fruition, it will be because the Imagineers (the technical ones, not the creative ones) couldn't get the technology to work, not because the "pencil pushers" in Burbank and/or TDO were too cheap to green light it.

Good grief... if the swinging cars technology is that big of a hassle, I'd rather WDI just cut that aspect and replace them with a more traditional BTMRR-style mine car, than cut the attraction completely...

Of course its going to happen... Just because they haven't started construction on it yet doesn't mean its not going to be built, I mean it was just announced this year... It took them a good 2-3 years to begin construction on TLM: Ariel's Undersea Adventure at DCA after they announced it.

It is called Patience people, hopefully some Americans still have it. :lookaroun

Until ground is broken, there is nothing definite about this. Disney can, and has pulled the plug on projects that are announced to the public. IMO, this project stands a pretty good chance of falling by the wayside. However, I am no insider, so for now I will defer to Lee and others who still say it is happening.

Starting to feel the same way, but I dont think we should write it off just yet, like Lee said lets see what comes out about it at the Expo.

I do kinda wish though they would just keep the current snow white ride and give it a Disneyland style overhaul instead, and move their oh so precious meetngreet elsewhere, just keep the princesses where they are now in the town square theater for goodness sakes. As for ideas as to what would replace the spot of the mine train, well that could be a whole seperate thread lol.

Agreed on I would rather have a nice refurb to Scary Adventures. It remains my favorite Fantasyland Dark ride ever since Mr. Toad's was removed.

An idea that would of been great would of been to make a lot of the area being torn apart for the old Skyway statino to become a Princess Meet and Greet/Princess Garden area. This way we would be getting even more out of Fantasyland.

Behind the Scenes

My family and I did the Adventure's by Disney Hollywood trip this summer (June). If you love Disney, I recommend it highly. Anyway, part of the adventure is a private tour of Disney Imagineering. The Adventure trip is the only way to get into the place and photography by guests is not allowed. On the tour we were taken to a design area where the entire room was filled with the scale models being used to re-design Fantasyland. The Snow White ride was there in minature, but the imagineer also showed us the full-scale mine car that will be used for the ride. The imagineer told us that the car had been tested by the imagineers and everything is a go for the ride.

On another note, when I asked the Imagineer about the broke Yeti in Everest, he told me that there had been a design flaw in the original that did not take into account the amount of stress and strain on the figure. There is a plan to fix the figure, but it's going to take some time.

We also had a private meeting with "lucky the Dionsaur" which was pretty amazing.

I was very excited when the plans were originally leaked, then when the plans changed to include the mine train coaster I thought that was an even better upgrade, but now I am becoming pessimistic.

We went from these elaborate meet and greets and pixie hollow to the mine train and now possibly something but in a more distant future.

We all know how these additional phases turn out. And having a huge construction site right in the middle of the brand new FLE is just a eyesore on what is supposed to be a great new expansion.

The pessimism cup runnith over. There is simply no reason at this time to think this attraction will not be built. It is the final piece of a very large project. Even if ever single thing is going as planned there is no reason to see any on site work on this project for quite some time.

Other "places" are stating pretty emphatically that the mine coaster is likely to be cancelled. The engineering just can't be worked out...

Will be interesting to see how this plays out.

Overall the expansion will be a dud in my eyes without the mine train.

If they end up ditching the mine train yet still take out the original snow white ride,,,will be very upsetting.

that is a pretty hefty piece of real estate sitting in the center of the expansion pad. It will be blatently obvious (if the artwork along the current construction walls in the park weren't enough) that something is missing. I have no idea what they could do to make the area feel "complete" if the coaster does indeed get cancelled.

It would be a rather big loss if this were canned. This ride was a pretty major turning point for the expansion from when it was first announced (suddenly made it much more popular). It would be an especially big shame if they canned it just because they can't work out the mine cart swinging thing. At the very least, they should redesign it to be more like a regular coaster without the swinging. I'd rather have that than nothing at all. It seems stupid to cancel it just because they can't get that particular tech working.

Would make it even worse if they shuttered the current Snow White ride to build a meet and greet and ALSO canned the Dwarf Coaster...

Actually, because I'm a nerd over dates, it was about 18 months.

Jay Rasulo announced the 1.2 Billion Dollar Extreme Makeover of DCA, of which Little Mermaid was one of the five new rides being built, on October 17th, 2007. The construction walls for Little Mermaid were placed up around the Golden Dreams theater and major demolition and land clearing began in early May, 2009.

The ride opened to the public at DCA in late May, 2011.

Still my point is it takes some time for construction to start on projects.

Seems to me that the building of the new SW coaster will be VERY VERY difficult to say the least... It looks as if it'll take place on an island in the middle of a very busy MK.
It won`t be an issue. Spaceship Earth has been heavily modified twice in its land-locked position.

DLPs Space Mountain of all things was land-locked by guest areas too.

For what it`s worth, I`ve not heard anything to suggest this attraction won`t be built.
