As a person I really respect (and always read your posts) please forgive my rant. But in this case you misunderstand. I was simply trying to defend the fact that the PC crowd gets vehemently anti-Mac, and their claims of Apple unreliability are simply unsupported: One problem with this forum is that there are very few of us over 50 crowd. Forgive me, but, everyone in their twenties "knows" everything and is infallible. I had the same problem at that age. As Mark Twain so beautifully put it: At 18 I was appalled at my fathers ignorence. When I got to be 28 I was surprised to see how much he had learned". I will now be attacked for this comment - but all you teens and 20 somethings out there - can't you accept that experierence might count for at least something? My Mac post was denegrated by people half my age with less than half my experience of computers - or life. I retired from the Navy after spending 20 years protecting your rights to an opinion (How many of you teens (or so called adults) are going to serve your country?) or even care?

Aha! I gotcha. That makes sense.

And thank you for your service. I come from a Navy family myself.

good lord... what is it with Apple and its batteries?

first the iPod, now the Powerbook??? At least with the iPod there was no risk of fire

and... SCENE!

That's the answer you'd expect from a PC user like me... well YOU GOT IT :drevil:

now as far as OS's go... I've been using a weird unix workstation at work lately and my Palm OS PDA, so I've been sideskirting the Windows/Mac debate for a few days. Maybe next week

Oh come on. Nokia and tons of others have had battery problems in the past. One incident isn't enough to warrent that. Now, if this was the 10th problem like this, then I would be on your side with this one.

Oh yeah, btw, apple is recalling the batteries because they could cause a fire risk since they get very hot, and even then, that's just a few models of the battery.

it wasn't just one incident on the iPod, there were numerous, and Apples refusal to correct it. They did nothing other than tell the guy to buy a new iPod until http://www.ipodsdirtysecret.com/ went online. All of a sudden Apple admits there is a problem

I have been surrounded by PCs and Apples for years.... I grewup using an old HP computer untill 1995... this used dos.. thats it...

in school they used apples... not bad... in first grade they had newer ones.. when i moved to a new school after being rezoned the elementary school had a network... and every kid including kindergarden could get on it.. no internet....

in middle school their was a network but no name but we could get on the internet....

in highschool network had passwords and namers... internet as well...

They used Imacs from 6th grade untill 9th when they went to us the new Emacs... (didn't trust us with those new imacs....)

Now the school has many old imacs that work well.. (well not the one in the band room) and that has gotten me to think of getting an apple in the future... of course i will keep my newer HP... and of course i do have my 2 different Live CDs of Linux which the school also uses.. (cheap people) on any if about 30 IBMs they have....

(I know... i would use everything...)
