Appalling state of the monorail cabins

Even with your wished for level of maintenance, early morning riders will be happy.....but, carrying 150,000 riders in one day (including toddlers dripping and wiping), latecomers will be 'appalled' at all of the wear and tear. I think a generation ago, riders were more respectful of their surroundings. You could probably start a new thread of 'Monorail riders did what?....oh, yes they did!'
Most people just ride. They don't cause such distress in just a few hours. A better appearance also encourages better behavior.

maybe they want these units to fall apart so they buy a new version?
I have no idea how they could let these units fall into disrepair that badly.
New trains would be far more expensive than maintenance or even a rebuild.

I just stayed at the BLT last week and observed the same deplorable conditions while traveling on the Monorail. I could not believe how filthy and the odor when I got on the monorail. It smelt like a NYC subway and If your not familar with the subway smell. The odor of urine from homeless people on the train platform. Also not to throw a color under the bus, it was the peach monorail.

But expansion would never be that size and they'd be foolish to ditch their products like that. The INNOVIA 200 is also intended for systems with lower ridership since it has a lower capacity.
Well I think that's part of it. They seem to be pushing the Innovia 300 more than the 200. I think they are more interested in building the 300 now instead of the 200. Of course WDW would need the 200, if they could use the 300 it probably would be really cost effective for them to just add on a few more to their current production for Brazil.

Even then, why turn down the money? They're not working with a regulated price point.

Well I don't think they would turn it down, I think WDW wasn't willing to pay the higher price for a shorter run.
Even at a lower price like for a higher run, rebuilding the existing trains would still be cheaper so it makes sense that new trains would not be considered by Disney.

Just a quick reminder of how much we do love the monorails... which is exactly why we complain.

Once upon a time when the Magic Kingdom "was" Walt Disney World the monorails were sparkling clean, fast and magical. There was only a minute or so wait and they ran at top speed (40 mph) to the next stop. No 5-10 minute delays for "traffic to clear" with no AC and an overwhelming smell of urine. Sadly, Disney has decided the monorails are not part of the magic anymore; just a means to get the guests from here to there to spend as much money as possible.

There is no more "magic" anymore. Just a means to higher stock prices.

I'm sure it's TDO or whoever in charge of that not wanting to spend money on new trains. Honestly, they shouldn't need to and I can agree with them on this, but they should COMPLETELY re-do them, new paint outside (the exteriors are FILTHY, or they were. They look terrible gliding around above you. They have been cleaner), etc. And they could ultimately be brand new. But the posters who have said they only see them as transport and not show, I agree. That's obvious.
