Appalling state of the monorail cabins

would the cabins be in such a state if parents and children respected others property? some, if not most, of that damage shown (that i have seen)IMHO, is the lack of respect for others and their property(and the rest is lackadaisical maintenance and 'good enough' attitude). those scuffs on the trimwork is from shoes and strollers shoved where they need not go, and keeping hands off will keep trim panels attached and access panels closed.

On my last trip in 2013, we observed a family whose children were literally bouncing off the walls of the monorail. Climbing on the seats, and up on the area behind the seats. The parents were completely uninterested in disciplining the kids. Our 5yo was appalled, and quietly asked us why the kids were doing that. I didn't have a good answer for him.

Things are getting better, you wouldn't be saying that of they were pictures of Orange, Black, and Blue. All of which have the updated interior.
Just because they're finally getting fixed after so much neglect is not something to celebrate. There are no indications that the cycle of deferring will not continue. You're not a bad employee or lacking in pride in your work if you take issue with management.

Have we at last discovered the one thing we're all going to agree on, more or less? That the monorails are in awful, terrible shape?! Hang on, I need to sit down. Er, not on that ripped and stained monorail seat.

DISNEY, PAY ATTENTION: moms, with small kids, old men, teenagers, pixie dusters, doom-and-gloomers, former CMs, current CMs, people who go every year, people who haven't been in years, college kids, grandparents, and more -- we ALL THINK THE MONORAILS LOOK TERRIBLE. And when you can get this group to more or less agree on something it should be considered a minor miracle, so, take that as you will.

Agreed the monorails are in deplorable condition both inside and out, and fortunately/unfortunately not on my list of "Disney smells" anymore. Also, I can still remember when the monorails would glide to a stop silently, but nowadays the shuttering of the brakes and accompanying noise is distressing.

Thing is, Disney will never take the train back to shop if the issue is not safety related. It is simply not worth the kickback of the 30 minute downtime. I want to examine those pictures with the four keys. Safety - the hatch being down is a safety concern and had the poster told someone it would have been remedied on the spot. Courtesy - Removing the train because of stained plastic or an unglued seam on the seat would have inconvenienced guests immediately. Show - yes it is bad show, but being courteous to the guests by not removing the train takes precedence. Efficiency - this really doesn't matter because efficiency is all about moving guests safely and quickly. This could be done with the train in or out of service.
can you stop for a second and reread what you wrote?
you're sounding more and more .... I wont say the word because it will probably be censored.

Don't like the four keys, get with Walt. And of course I'm making it out like random events, its because many people are making it a big deal and I enjoy annoying people.
yeah, because its never a big deal.
probably the only big deal for someone apologetic as you... is when theres dead people or the monorail goes out of its railing.

Point at the "adults" and say "Because those are morons."

I bet the only "big deal" is when theres dead people or the monorail goes out of its railing.
If being optimistic that things are getting better, and then basing my opinion about this matter on my optimistic attitude makes me an apologist, then so be it. There, happy?

I was in full monorail cars this winter and I noticed the damages... It was my first time to the resort in over 5 years (wen't to Cali instead those years). I regretted going back to WDW a bit because about 80% of the parks were in horrible shape. It's really heart breaking to see how bad things have become across the resort.

I didn't see it mentioned here, yet I have heard it and experience it everytime I ride the monorail. "What is up with the cow manure smell in there?". I don't experience that smell anywhere else in WDW or elsewhere unless I'm standing in a barn, yet it is consistent in any of the monorail cars I ride in.
I have noticed in the past that there was a strong urine odor in some of the monorail cars.

When people say stupid things line "80% of the resort is in horrible shape," they lose loads of credibility when they try to say something reasonable and true like "the monorails need work."

They have no reason to address any of these issues, unfortunately. Think about the conditions of the metro and subway systems around the country that perhaps a majority of Disney guests use on a near daily basis. Except for us fans, most people probably don't notice the appalling state or if they do, think it still looks pretty good and much better than what they're used to seeing.

Actually it seems pretty difficult to find public transportation anywhere close to being in as bad of shape as the WDW monorail. I have personally been on NYC and DC subways and noted on each that they seemed much nicer than WDW monorails. Others on here have stated other transit systems and noticed the same thing.
