I'm usually one to withhold final opinion until I try something myself, but not this time. I'll be at WDW during this and I definitely will pass. I can't stand AI, so this does not appeal to me at all.

If it's your thing, do enjoy yourselves! I'll be riding ToT. :)

Why would anyone hope that?

You know what happens if it flops? They have to spend money and time to correct it or more likely they wasted money and have nothing to show for it.

If it is the first case, then the likelihood that other project will suffer is increased. Perhaps even a project, you were looking forward too.

If it is the second case, then this attraction does not eat people like it is supposed to, leading to more people in the parks, and increasing wait times in other areas.

Why people wish bad things are beyond me.

No amount of money or time could "fix" this show. All the money and time they've already put into AIE is wasted money.

It officially opens on Feb 14th.

I really think it's ashame that everyone wants this attraction to do poorly! Do you think the Studios will want to go forward with another big attraction like the Monster's Inc. coaster if AIE flops? Wouldn't they be better off if this attraction does have positive effect on attendance to the point that they can justify another major attraction.

I also certainly hope that you take into consideration the many individuals that it takes to run this attraction. I assure you it's no small task to put on and I would hope you all only wish the best for their job security and well being. I also find it ironic that many people are wishing the new home of many of the actors from Adventures Club and Comedy Warehouse a speedy death.

Further more, I feel as if the Disney community as a whole has failed to see several big pictures when it comes to this new attraction. Many people are blaming AIE for the cutbacks at Fant! but many people fail to consider that it's a combination of many things. First off the budget for entertainment has stayed the same at the studios despite adding one of the largest parades on property as well as a new major show. Both of which contain several specialty and equity performers. AIE is almost made up entirely of individuals with specialty contracts. Sadly the budget has to come from somewhere and that somewhere was cutting a few showings of Fant! Would you rather lose streetmo or have BPB run only on select dates or have them close BatB or Voyage? Count your lucky stars that Fant! still runs on a weekly schedule as the folks at Disneyland aren't so lucky. If AIE does well and draws in large crowds and keeps them in the park wouldn't Studios have even more justification for returning Fant! to a nightly schedule. These are the big pictures many people fail to consider. So instead you could have AIE flop and there be no reason to return Fant! to a nightly schedule.

Also, so you don't like AI itself. Then look past the show as being just AI and start looking at it as an opportunity for guest to live out their dreams as a star on stage. American Idol has more appeal in this manner than most people give it credit for. Haven't any of you ever dreamt of stardom?

As far as I'm concerned none of you have a right to prematurely judge AIE as it has yet to open to the public and I doubt many if any of you have been participating in the test shows. Secondly if your only going to judge idol from the standpoint that it took away your precious Fant! then I hope that Fant! continues to perform on this abbreviated schedule.

No, I've never "dreamt of stardom," but that's just me. All due respect, take a breath and relax. No, I do not like AI. If someone else likes it, I have no problem with that. I'm happy for you. Everyone has an opinion, and - in AI's case - some people have a visceral reaction to it.

I don't wish for the attraction to fail. Since I don't like it, I really could care less. I do hope that some real research on the attraction's probability of success was done, and it wasn't put in simply because of the corporate relationship.

I'll probably walk by the attraction while I'm there to see if it's bringing in people, but that's it.

YMMV

Wow! Disneyfan! its good to see there are still some people who accept and regurgitate everything a Disney press release says and don't form an opinion of their own. Shows like Voyage of the Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast live on stage have definitely have their run and its time for them to be replaced with SOMETHING, not necessarily another offering from the entertainment department. As for BPB, I personally enjoy it but it doesn't seem like it has a lot of fans on these boards. I think its safe to say that DHS is going to have some attendance issues this year with major attractions opening up at Universal and Sea World and the only new addition Disney has is a karaoke contest. ZZZzzzzzz.
American Idol needs to bomb so it will force Disney management to turn to Imagineering for a suitable replacement somewhere in the park. American Idol bombing will not make DHS more crowded, it will just force the public to not come. Disney's California Adventure was a bomb and now Disney is sinking over a billion dollars in it to bring it somewhat close to what the people want. I have a lot of friends who transferred to this attraction as well as some of the equity performers who will be there from Pleasure Island as well and as happy as I am for them to have gotten jobs, I would rather see their talents used elsewhere.
I don't think the Disney community would have minded AIE coming if there were more new attractions opening this year but since this is it for the foreseeable future (except that Stitch thing coming to Tomorrowland) it is almost embarrassing.
Disnyfan, Disney fans need to stop sniffing the pixie dust for a little while and embrace what the competition does so that the suits will get off their duffs and bring their parks back up to the level that they set in the first place.

I assure you that this is my own opinion! :fork: Unlike some individuals who are passing judgement before experiencing the product I am not!

Because it will flop , they should have put something else there like a 3-d show or something. I dont think anyone wants to hear SEACREST OUT! God forbid he's featured in that somehow , like on a intro video. -shivers-

Look at it like this , how many kids can actually relate to American idol? I think more kids relate to say the star wars , the indiana jones , the pixar stuff there then a bunch of teens trying to be the next big singer.

Both of these are opinions, based on nothing but your experience with the show on television and some concept art.

You guys are just frothing for this thing to go bad just so you can have another star in your "I know better than they do" crown.

So you want this attraction to fail at the expense of your friend's job, just so you can have what you think will be a better vacation? I'm glad you're not my friend.

Not old, just vintage.
I am going to the Thursday at 4pm show with another forum member. The show better be good because I am pretty sure this will be the only time I go see it. I just can't see myself waiting in line to do something I have very little interest in to begin with. The only reason why I am even going to the preview is I happen to be in WDW during that time, I have free time that day, and I like to say that I have done every attraction at least once....even if I never see it again. (Tom Sawyer Island, Robinson Family Tree House, SGE, Narnia, etc) :lookaroun

Yeah your right , I totally want a new disney attraction to flop so everyone can suffer. Look I'm not even trying to be the stereotypical "I know it will fail " kinda guy , I'm just really going by my own opinion and I honestly think it's gonna be a huge mistake. Ok let's say opening day , opening week is big, that's great. But as much as I want it to go well , i really feel like this isn't the crowd pleaser we need , and thus I feel like this is going to fail extremely bad.

As reguards to friends wasting money , please stop doing drugs XD , it's not helping.

Now reguarding say it does flop , this doesn't mean "OMG THIS IS A CATASTROPHE , AND NO ONE WILL EVER COME BACK TO DHS!". I'm sorry that's the biggest load of bs I've ever heard in my life. It simply means Disney would have to pull out some bigger guns to fill in that huge hole , hopefully another ride or something nice. Which will sadly during this economic struggle , cost them money galore. But I mean you gotta spend money to make money sometimes. That's my 2 cents.

Here is why you are way wrong...
see, if this were any other type of new attraction or show, such as when Monsters Inc. LF opened and people were pre judging it, I could see your point.
This however is quite obviously meant to appeal to AI fans. To be a live version of the tv show. Guess what, I don't watch the tv show because I don't like it, therefore I can prejudge that I will not enjoy this attraction.
I am however hoping it is successful, as DHS needs anything at this point to help with crowds and make it closer to a full day park (for repeat guests).

I am not a big fan of AI, haven't even watched a full season since the first one. I find it to have taken a cruel twist, at least in the beginning when they show all the people who clearly can't sing but think they can. Sad.

I cannot even imagine why DHS would even want this attraction or that it is going to successful. I have been known to be wrong before :)eek:) but on this one I may place a bet that I am right.....

Mystic reading!!!!

My mystic prediction:

Goblins and Goulies
of Last Halloween,
Awaken the Spirits
With your.... wait a second.

Oh.

Wrong Park.

Here we go.

American Idol
Be a hit for a while,
While Fantasmic! fanboys
Be in total denial

But soon it will fizzle,
As the ratings will die,
And Superstar Theatre
Will be up in blue skies

So quite well it will keep
The people inside
Until something else does
In the form of a new ride...

That'll be $500 for the first reading and $50 for each candle.

And I will tell you why you are somewhat wrong! You only know American Idol the show! You don't think Disney would add a new ride that didn't feature a touch of Disney do you?
