Anyone Have Pics of HISTA Closed?

I think the reason it may have many haters(but not all, since opinions are fine and its not everyone's cup of tea) is that it has been there for so long and for some people they only think of the movies with it. It is of course based off of the franchise but really, it stands well on its own with the sci fi concept.

I find the humor well written and to be honest, as far as design in theme it is the most immersive 4D show on property. Here me out here, it is not just watching a film.(EO)

It is not being introduced to a film perosnally and just going into the theater and then watching a movie without a fourth wall (Muppets, Terminator ect..)

It was full blown involving the audience. More like Tough to be a bug where the act is 'live' in front of you. I happen to think the award show ceremony concept was brilliant and the idea of being able to make it seem like life sized people were in front of you then to more than life sized. There was also tons of brilliant foreshadowing. Also the motion base was very clever and semi concealed. The way the entire theater platform rocks rather than individual seats was that much neater and more believable in sensation.

Also, anyone remember the detailed touches the sign used to have with the beam and smoking effect?

I also really enjoyed the detail of the exit hallway where it still sounds like they are all backstage trying to handle giant Cork.

I agree that it was well produced...for it's time. The truth is HISTA has not stood the test of time... I went on it last week for the last time and it looked REALLY old. I always found it amusing how much younger Eric Idle looks in HISTA compared to JIIwF, which came out 10 years later...

The 3-D effects just don't look as good as they use to, especially the little flying contraption that comes close to your face. It's hard to focus on it and see the picture without it becoming blurry.

The effects from HISTA are very good and I'm sure a lot of them can remain in use for EO as well as it's eventual replacement, but at this point I still say HISTA has been there a bit too long and it's time for change... It was time for change 5 years ago...

For what it's worth, I'm still hearing (as recently as last week, and not from a "spokesman") that HISTA is planned to return between EO and a refurb on the pavillion. EO is good for a year or so, and the refurb is farther away than that. HISTA will bill the void.

At Disneyland the hista signage was completely removed and some parts of the building were even repainted back to the old purple magic eye colors.
In DL, HISTA is done. After EO it will be repurposed into MILF.

Why not just leave EO until the building can be refurbished? That would make a bit more sense...

Thats what I would think because when the intial month passes imo EO will draw the same amount of people as HISTA. Why spend anything on yet another transition?

Good point.
I would guess a couple things:
- It may have to do with having to pay royalties or something on EO.
- It is only a limited time thing at DL and the other parks, likely enforced the same at Epcot.
- I don't think it's up to TDO to decide when to pull EO. It is up to them to decide what to do after.:lookaroun

I personally hope HISTA does not come back! The ride is past its prime and the story even is as well. The parks need to stay fresh and keep the rides and the subrides, I call these the little movies throughout epcot, current so todays youth want to keep coming back to the park year after year.

Take the same theme idea of using your imagination and throw in characters people actually care about. Just please dont bring back HISTA

Maybe after EO has been there for a year or 2, they can promote HISTA as "the return of a classic" the way EO has been played up.

Thank you for saying that. So many haters.

I think its just because it's old. I'll admit it's a well done show, probably the most well done 3d show on property. But it's been there too long. Hopefully when EO is through, something new will come as well as a re imagined imagination.

Plus, they'll get a temporary bump by bringing back HISTA, even after only a year or so, from those (apparently few) who miss it.

Who knows, TDO may even do a temporary run of Magic Journeys before demolishing the theater in an full-pavilion rehab. Get one more short-lived bump from the nostalgia-buffs before spending the big bucks.

I think I'm officially going to avoid the whole Imagination Pavillion this trip.

Hope I won't be doing this for 2 years! >.>

It was???? I guess I will have to look again cause when I was there last week it was all still the same.

Don't always believe things you read on other web sites!!!

I went and took pics, but nothing really exciting happened overnight. Just a CM standing outside saying that it was closed and that Captain EO was replacing it. The smoke effect for the shrinking machine was turned off.

What did you expect to see????

Because what its being replaced with, people may actually want to see. :hammer:

Not everyone wants to see captain Creepo...

I just will not understand why alot of people think that Bringing back a 16 year old film is the greatest thing since sliced bread... This attraction, in my opinion, was horrible the first time around and do not think that the death of its star would make it any better....
