Anyone Have Pics of HISTA Closed?

1. The 3D shows aren't filling up on non-busy days so adding this will get more people over there during those medium to light crowd days.

2. The wand was temporary. It may have overstayed it's welcome a bit, but ultimately it was temporary.

3. This is meant as a tribute/attendance booster to that pavilion. HISTA is a terrible attraction that should have been gone long ago. Hopefully with getting rid of it and bringing in EO for a short while, this will transition into a refurb for the overall imagination pavilion soon and we will never have to see HISTA or EO again.

2. The wand was an eye sore... That lasted, what 7 years...I really hope Eo is not that temporary.

3. Is your opinion that Honey I Shrunk the Audience is a horrible attraction.

What did you expect to see????

Not everyone wants to see captain Creepo...

I just will not understand why alot of people think that Bringing back a 16 year old film is the greatest thing since sliced bread... This attraction, in my opinion, was horrible the first time around and do not think that the death of its star would make it any better....

But apparently everyone wants to see HISTA? Please. More people will want to see EO than HISTA I can assure you. And I personally dont think its the best thing disney has ever done, but I do think its a good decision. If it bores you or creeps you out, let me remind you to not go. Be in the minority with those who wont see the show.

I do not think I will be in he minority...I think if this had been done LAST year it would have been an Okay decision... But to have this "Tribute" over a year later is just distasteful (In my opinion) I am sure the crowds will be huge for it.. But they "newness" will wear off and people will see that its not this amazing film that people seem to think it is...

I have to agree with the notion that it makes little sense to bring back HISTA. Even if EO attendance drops off, the theater will be no worse off than it is now. EO should simply stay in place until they totally revamp the pavilion and give the theater a new attraction.

At least most people who visit the park will know who MJ was and possibly want to see a cool movie with him in it. Not quite as many will remember a short lived and only moderately successful kids movie series from the early 90's starring Dark Helmet.

Its very little about the Disney World fans, if that were the case than it would of been worth bringing back the attraction a very long time ago, it is more about the MJ fans who are going to drop the dough on the merch because his face is on it. They know there are Disney fans who will do the same thing so it is a very cheap investment with a huge imediate (and they know short term) rush of income.

I think it is funny for those who say HISTA is dated. I mean fair enough, it had a long run and everything film based is going to become dated to an extent but it is a horrible arguement when the movie coming back was filmed in the era of tech availible in 1984 and not much was expected of 3D presentations of the quality that we often see today. It being MJ and 3D was enough, apparently it is today as it is not even getting its original effects back.

So I agree, I am happy for some but I have a hard time getting excited about a 3D movie from 1985 with less than what people got back then.

Irony, first 4D theme park attraction ever produced before the term existed, and it comes back without what really blew people away.

For those who found HISTA's actual effects to be the problem with staleness, that was more of an upkeep issue than anaything else with the film's occansional blur. Wait till you see EO on that original 70MM.

Yea, last year might have been better, but better late than never. He passed in June, so when exactly would they have re debut it? IMO, showing it that soon would have been very distasteful.

I'm sure it's not this amazing piece of film either, I'm not expecting it to be. I just think it's good to have MJ back in the park. I'm eager to see EO, but don't plan on seeing it more than once. I'm sure it'll be popular, regardless of it being dated. It's replacing something dated either way, with a star that some people will actually want to see. So its a win win $win$.

Good point.
I would guess a couple things:
- It may have to do with having to pay royalties or something on EO.
- It is only a limited time thing at DL and the other parks, likely enforced the same at Epcot.
- I don't think it's up to TDO to decide when to pull EO. It is up to them to decide what to do after.:lookaroun

This is too bad, if they leave EO there until we next visit (which they won't because it won't be until MK's 40th), I'd make a point to see it. If it's back to HISTA I won't. Which begs the question, those making a point of a 40th trip - what crowd are they? Are they "mega" fans making a big return trip similar to those attending Epcot 25? If so, would EO draw better than HISTA at that point? Which then brings me to:

Who knows, TDO may even do a temporary run of Magic Journeys before demolishing the theater in an full-pavilion rehab. Get one more short-lived bump from the nostalgia-buffs before spending the big bucks.

This may not be a bad idea. Magic Journeys did spend some time in the MK. Having it run post EO from say September 2011 to January 2013 (through the 40th celebration) makes sense. Likely no more expensive then brigning back HISTA unless the film hasn't been cared for. This won't happen, but I think it would be just as successful as HISTA coming back. Heck, enough people won't even know what it is that you could catch non-mega fan return guests who wouldn't have seen HISTA again.

Anyway, I digress...

I don't know I think people now-a-days want to keep their kids off of LSD.

-As far as I know there are no royalties involved for EO. Disney completly owns the film. George Lucas and Michael Jackson were just hired to work on it.
-yup
- Knowing TDO they will probably just close the building until the refurb once the EO run is over. However, I have a feeling Eo will play until AT LEAST Star Tours 2 opens (This was part of the reason it was brought back at Disneyland to help with capacity).

I honestly wouldn't mind if they didn't bring back HISTA either. I know it would be a shame to leave an empty theater just sitting there though.

To be honest, the entire Imagination! pavilion in its current state is a shame anyway. How long til its overhaul already? :brick:

At Disneyland the hista signage was completely removed and some parts of the building were even repainted back to the old purple magic eye colors. Hista wayyyy overstayed it's welcome and chances are it's thankfully not chiming back. Eventually eo will be replaced with something new.

Ok just to put this to rest, nothing at DL was repainted! It is still the same as it was for HISTA except the main sign outside, wait time sign and they put EO posters over the old Inventor of the Year posters!

Hopefully in time for EPCOT's 30th, that would make a lot of sense.

But there I go again, applying logic to a totally illogical situation. The still-empty upstairs is a testament to that.

After EO the theater and the Imagination pavilion will go to Seasonal Status. Then after a couple of years it will be turned over to Special Events. Problem solved.

Is "Honey I shrunk the audience" really gone??? I think I'm going to cry now, I LOVE that ride/attraction. It's going to be bad enough that "It's a Small World" will be closed this Oct. when I go, but now this. I just can't imagine anyone not enjoying it, it's awesome!! And what exactly is EO. I can't stand all these abbreviations because I have NO idea what they mean. I am a die-hard Disney fan, but still don't get the abbreviations. It took me forever to even figure out what HISTA was. Wow, it's closed.....I am still just os sad. :-(
