That's the problem. There are a lot of people who disagree with the business practices and decisions that he makes, and they are openly backing up what their examples.
Yet those same people support those practices by continuing to fund the company. Disney isn't the federal government where you have to pay taxes if if you don't agree how that money is spent.

So based on your statement, employees should not receive federal or state assistance just because the boss doesn't need it. That's ridiculous.
No, it is immoral and should be illegal for a CEO to make obscene amounts when a full third of his work force is being paid to work at Walt Disney World by the taxpayer.

Grossly large amount? Yes. No argument against that. CMs should get more, absolutely no argument against that.

However, he had a good year. Business is booming, parks are packed. Parks may not be perfect as we all wish, but they are making bank. Can't fault that. They are making money, so he is making money.

It wouldnt bother me if he made $100 million in a year. It bothers me that he inflates his own personal worth through (stock buybacks) which takes away from cash reserves and Im sure that is a contributing factor as to why it takes them longer to build a kiddie coaster than it took to build ALL of EPCOT. (and please keep in mind I said "contributing factor", obviously there is more to it) The company is making more money than ever yet the parks (in Orlando) need more help than ever. Sure, there are things in the works but they are YEARS away and Iger will be loooong gone by then.

So just so I understand. If Disney were to announce that they are going to pay all their hourly workers $8.90 an hour regardless of what they do or their tenure, then Igers compensation becomes moral?
Kinda, certainly more moral.

Good luck operating a business that way.

And so we're tilting at windmills now? I'm game.

Well the article says his pay was down 15% the year before so he's making up for lost time;)

CEO pay is outrageous. So is the amount entertainers and athletes make. I'm a Phil's fan. Ryan Howard made $25M last year and hit something like .220 (for those who don't know baseball - that sucks) and he has another $60M coming to him for the next 2 years:confused: I have a hard time imagining making that much money. Don't even get me started on Justin Beiber making $80M this year...seriously. When compared to that Iger is grossly underpaid;)

One thing glossed over from the article is that the shareholders are voting on whether to split the roles of CEO and chairman again. The positions were consolidated under Iger. It's unlikely that will pass, but it really should. It's always a better idea to have an independent leader of the board.
