The defenders are out in full force ... 46.5 million is disgusting. I don't think celebrities need or deserve to get paid what they do either.

It's called an opinion and we all have them. It's public information and we have every right to discuss his paycheck.
So it's ok to think he didn't earn it, but not ok to have the opinion he did?

Curious, how much is fair?

As I said earlier, his actual salary didn't move. It stayed the same. His bonuses and stock options were what increased. So as the stock price goes up and he is given more stock, he's going to make more money. Should that go down, instead of making millions, he'll be losing millions... Luckily, unlike some of the prolific $1 salaried CEOs, he has his 2.5 mil to fall back on should the stock start to falter, which right now, isn't likely.

You know celebrities don't get paid just to be famous, right? They provide something of great (dollar) value and in turn get compensated.

Why do you feel that wealth is disgusting?

If you read closer, his salary of 2.5 million didn't change. It's all the other things, the bonuses and stock that got him the 35% raise.

As @NelsonRD stated up the page, there are several CEO's that have a salary of $1 for the year and this is simply because they are compensated with bonuses and stock that they (for all intensive purposes) don't need a "salary" position.

"intents and purposes"
Sorry, don't mean to be rude, just a pet peeve.

Does it really matter? Seriously? Does it affect your park experience? Does it affect you?

When Alan Mulally from Ford took a $1 a year paycheck, it didn't affect the price of the cars.
No matter what Iger makes, you are still going to pay what you pay at the parks.

CEOs make big money, in other news, the sun rose today.

Well it's kind of a slap in the face when the CMs who act as representatives of the company to thousands of faces on a daily basis are stuck at minimum wage.

Disney Parks arent McDonalds...the cast members are trained extensively in customer service and making the Disney Magic happen, and they should be compensated as such.

That is why he is blowing all of The Walt Disney Co.'s cash reserves for stock buy backs. He is manipulating the stock price for his own personal gain.

So sad reading the posts here. Instead of being critical of a man who knows how to operate a business VERY well, we should all strive in our daily lives to perform our own jobs as successful as he performs his. The company is doing incredibly well, keeping people employed and providing a good return on investment for shareholders and happiness among all stakeholders (minus 95% of people on this site).

That's the problem. There are a lot of people who disagree with the business practices and decisions that he makes, and they are openly backing up what their examples.
