Its not so much the data tracking that bothers me. Its the fact that they try to sell it as something that will "enhance" my vacation experience. It will not. It only serves to enhance THEIR experience in treating the average guest like a $ sign and not a person. I would respect it more if they flat out said, "this is going to help us make more money". I understand its a business and the point is to make a profit.
Don't pee on me and then tell me its just rain. WDW was once (long ago) ran by people who wanted to make profits but actually cared how they went about it. Ideas such as quality and pride going hand in hand actually meant something. Could they have made more money using other financial models? Yes, but I feel they believed more in setting themselves apart from the average business by catering more to their guests and not their wallets. Look at the price increases in the last decade compared to the increases from 1985-1995. @
ParentsOf4 has broken it down nicely several times. They have become OBSESSED with only making money and spewing out a few polished turds every now and then to keep the masses happy. Whether its blue ocean strategy or just plain old greed, the entire MM+, NGE, is wrapped in a nice pretty package and being sold to us as a magical experience we must have, when in actuality it is subterfuge at its finest. You are being led down the primrose path. These people in charge will no doubt jump ship when their deceitful ways are exposed and the mess will be left to be cleaned up by those who actually care, hopefully it wont be too late by then.
