I'm not sure if this is something that they would even do but maybe they pulled a "fast food drive up window" approach to it. You know, like when they tell you to pull ahead and they will bring you hot food out in 3 minutes knowing that it will only be two so you're "okay" with the wait. Is Disney telling us that it will be complete by November 30th and SURPRISE, it's ready October 1st? Or would they even bother with going that far? :shrug:

Does a rehab mean a longer time closed?
Refurb and rehab are commonly used to mean the same thing with attractions. Right now, Test Track is planned to reopen on December 1 2012.

Can you people stop crying over the opening date. Some of us here actualy want them to do a great job redoing the attraction and guess what that takes time. What is the point of reopening it sooner if there are no imrpovments or it's incomplete like the Spaceship Earth and Space Mountain refurbs? Answer me that.
Yep, they can take all the time they need in my books. Just deliver a great refurb for Test Track - it deserves it.

They are not asking for the refurb to be rushed, they are just lamenting that it will not be open when they are there. Perfectly reasonable.

Well, I am just giving thoughts about it. Maybe WDW shouldn't even post possible closing/opening dates or refurbs. Amusement parks don't. You show up and the sign says "closed for repairs" "pardon our dust", etc... etc... etc...:goodnevil
But WDW is four THEME parks, so I guess that's different. There are few major attractions/E tickets/roller coasters/rides (not just omnimovers/dark rides). Some folks just come to experience those, but most come for the overall magical experience!:lookaroun
I guess that gives another heated argument/debate a chance to come out: WDW's need for more "rides" like Universal. Sea World never had "rides" when I was little (70's), but now they do!:drevil:
Overall though, the Disney experience is what most people come for and they usually get it in many more ways, other than just riding rides like TT.

I think the amount of money that goes into a disney vacation is many o' reason for them to post an accurate timetable of refurbishments. While I could show up at the local six flags and expect a ride to be down with no notice, I would not be distraught. The tickets are usually discounted and I don't stay on property, so it's not a "plan a year in advance" type of event.

Back in the 1970s, when Disney had just 1 park (Magic Kingdom) and there was no Universal or Sea World rides used to close down for refurbs much more frequently (many at the same time) and guess what? While some people were disappointed nobody really complained because people used their brains and understood that refurbs were necessary. Especially since the rides that were open during there visit were of the highest quality with every effect working.
Now that Disney has 4 parks (filling up with ghettoized attractions and half complete refurbs) and there is so much to see and do in Orlando people start whining about 1 or 2 attractions closed during their visit? I say they can take their entitlement crap and stick it you know where!

I can understand some folks being upset about a ride they're looking forward to experiencing being closed during their visit. I visited DLR for the first time last summer and was very relieved that I would catch the Matterhorn before it was to be closed down for a refurb. It really would've put a damper on my visit, but at the same time, give me even more motivation to go back.
If riding TT is that important and you're able, reschedule your visit for next year. Most of the Fantasyland expansion should be done by then, too. Honestly, judging by how the initial opening of TT was delayed by almost 3 years? Let's hope that if they do experience time setbacks, they take the time they need, and not just open it up half-done and half-baked to avoid being closed down for so long.
And hopefully they'll realize that it's time to shift focus back on EPCOT so that closing one E-ticket isn't a catastrophic event!

I agree that people get a little bit too upset...back when the HM went down for refurb (which is my favorite ride by the way) I didn't have a clue until I got to the park...While it did put a damper on my trip I still found a way to have fun. If I would have known, I would have most likely scheduled to go when it was running though (it would have been like a four month wait).
And If someone is going to spend 8K on a trip for a full family, I don't think "entitlement" is the right word to use. If you spend a significant amount of coin on a trip you should "expect" a certain level of communication.
Do I want them to do the refurb right? Yep. Do I want them to do more refurbs? Yep. Do I want them to help me have the best experience I possibly can for my money...by communicating what i'm getting for my money? Absolutely. I don't think communicating ride downtime has any bearing on the quality or frequency of refurbs...
