Any Updates on Test Track Redo?

Maybe they'll have a Haunted Mansion esqe final scene where you are riding in your designed car...ala mirrors and such...not sure how they would get all six peoples designs in unless it's by vote.

Also I would think that a tronish element would be something before the final run...like a natural progression into the highway of the future. If they added Glowing LED along the track it would make a pretty sweet night picture spot. It wouldn't take much to add lighting and such to really spruce that up.

Like.

Too bad they couldn't sing "Get the Feel of the Wheel (of a Ford)" from the Magic Skyway at the World's Fair...

That's the kind of entertainment I can't watch for more than a minute before I start to feel embarrassed for the performers.

I admit, I only watched the first couple of minutes. Maybe it gets better later in the video?

That was brutal. I watched about two minutes worth before I was squirming in my seat. That won't last more then a week or two.

The refurbishment calendar is now complete: Test Track - Closed For Refurbishment [ Monday, April 16 - Friday, November 30 ]

Finally. I do have to say, though, 7 months isn't too bad. Even though we basically know the most extensive changes will be to the queue and post-show, there's definitely enough time for substantial touch-up/changes to the show scenes.

Thank goodness Test Track has finally been put out of its misery. It has been in horrible show condition for the past few years - an absolute disgrace in some areas. Fingers crossed Imagineering get this one right and do it properly. Hopefully it is more Haunted Mansion than Spaceship Earth or Space Mountain.

I thought it was originally posted as September 30th?

It was. It has changed several times. First it was just until June 30, then to July 31, then to September 30. Now it says November 30.:confused: Tomorrow it might say December 31.

I don't care as long as it is done correctly.

Late Fall2012?

Oh dear! Well then it'll be very late fall almost early winter if it's November 30! 7 months! Wow! TT should be great when complete!

^^ THIS. But can you imagine the absolute insanity when TT reopens if it doesn't live up to the hype?

All I can say is if Chevy has their way it will, the creative that was shown and signed off on at the board meeting was very cool, this will be a fantastic refit with some really cool tech when all said and done.

But what should be noted is that GM is picking up the (entire:lookaroun) tab, its coming from the Chevy Advertising Budget from 2012-2013, and also GM is building a lot of the set pieces, and accents in house. The numbers that WDI proposed for these items were ridiculous and GM realized they could do a lot of this without having to pay WDI prices, so they were able to save money in those instances use it elsewhere and in the end put forth a superior product and superior attraction to us.

For once the suits in TDO didn't have a voice.

And this goes to show why the outsourcing of WDI work is not ALL bad. If WDI comes up with the ideas, it's much more cost-effective to have someone else produce all of the set pieces.

This is something that has always made me nervous for WDI's future. We here so often that WDI has no clue, no desire, and/or no ability to work inside the confines of a budget. I have hear tales of $500 a gallon Andorian Crimson paint made with the tears of one finned penguins over a $30 a gallon paint of the same color from Home Depot. You have to think that if this keeps up that WDI will cease to be in the foreseeable future.

We need time for things to happen.

I thought they would have put some thought into this and planned it around
October 1st.

Sheeze why couldn't they have started a month earlier and have it ready for the anniversary......and my visit.....:lookaroun

ahhhhh..that suxxx.

Great post.

I've been thinking the same thing. If this refurb is as good as janoimagine says and it's reviews are stellar, things might really have to change.

Late Spring Break/Easter Traffic?

I am excited about what 7 months could do for this type of attraction. Really if you think about it, It would take 2 years for them to put the show building and track up...They could be really doing a substantial retheme...

especially since there was confirmation that there was pre-prep done off site, and they are not limited to night time construction.

I just hope they put up something to keep us from staring at the back stage as we make the final acceleration on the back loop...It's really a buzzkill going from themed ride to CM parking lot and facilities.
