I have dined at 3 of the signature restaurants and of those 3, Jiko and California Grill would definitely be worth 2 credits but the Brown Derby would not be.

We all have different tastes, so I'm sure you'll get a variety of answers.
I would say yes to Artist Point, California Grill, Narcoossee's and Jiko Flying Fish and Yachtsman Steakhouse.

As to Why...

Artist Point - Superior food, quiet, romantic location
California Grill - Imaginative menu, great view (don't count on fireworks!)
Narcoossee's - Great atmosphere and service, nice menu
Yachtsman Steakhouse - better steaks than Le Cellier. Nice location. Service seems to have decreased and noise level increased as more familys seem to be going here.

Jiko - Great location, imaginative menu, also fairly quiet and romantic
Flying Fish - imaginative menu, one of the best for seafood variety

I was going to repeat the same as ClemsonTiger.

The places we go all seem to be all 2 credits! Probably why room discount and DDE works better for us.

Agreed...that is our approach.

happy to hear we're not the only one's DDP doesn't work for, I've tried to make it work, but just can't:shrug:, one of the things we most look forward to on vacation is Signature Dining :slurp:, haven't eaten at one that hasn't been good. DDE gives a discount on EVERYTHING too!

Thanks for the feedback so far! I don't know if we will do the DDP again, but for this one we are probably going to go for one signature experiece. That said, I am thinking Artist Point though my wife like the seafood you can get at Narcosse's.
We thought about maybe doing the Polynesian Dinner Show(free drinks!) but I have read some negative things on it.

If you want to do a dinner show I can not recommend the Hoop-dee-do enough. The food is simple (fried chicken, ribs, etc) but very good and the show is a hoot.

You are not alone. When DDP included tips it worked out really well. Now that it doesn't the DDE is a much better value and has considerably more flexibility.

Agreed!
Between the two shows, Hoop de do wins hands down for a more interactive fun evening with included adult beverages [can't quite bring myself to say free] as well.

As for deciding between Narcoossee's and Artist Point....you won't loose at either. Artist Point has a great salmon dish. If your wife loves seafood, consider also the often overlooked Flying Fish.

I would say it's definately worth it. YOu would eat way too much way too often if you did a Table Service every day, so we generally did counter service and snacks some days and used 2 Table credits twice... at California Grill and Flying Fish. I think Flying Fish is overlooked... it was outstanding.

CT not only are our teams alot alike, but we are too! ('cept I'm not old)

The only things I would say differently here is that I did not like Artist Point or Cali Grill. I like the view of the fireworks much better from Narcoosees.

We have DDE as well, and shortly after getting it, they came out with the dining plans for DVC members. Our last couple of trips, we have done the deluxe dining plan and it has worked out to a good savings for us. That way we have our good breakfast in the mornings and have plenty of points for our 2 credit restaurants. We just skip a few lunches in there, which is fine because there's plenty enough snack credits to cover something for lunch.

I had heard mixed reviews on the Luau as well. We did it this past May and we absolutely LOVED it! The show was great, service was excellent as was the food. We've done Hoop Dee Doo as well and enjoyed it too.

Victoria and Alberts

where else can you get a 12 course meal for a set price?

V&A's is a 7 course meal and the only plan it is included in is the Platinum Plan.

My wife and I really loved Artist Point. It's the first time I've ever had bison, and it was delicious. The whole evening was lovely and only marred by the view of families running back and forth from the pool, and impending storms. I don't drink but my wife was impressed with their wine list.

Granted we went before the Dining Plan drastically changed, so we got much more for our money than you would now. But I'd still recommend it as a fabulous dining experience.

For some reason I thought this was excluded form the dining plan... even as a signature experience. I'm wrong? Cuz YAY if I am wrong... but ???

You are correct, V&A's is not on the dining plan, but you can use DDE for it (except for Chef's table)

(one trip more than pays for the DDE! :D)

We have eaten at a few "Signature Dining" locations, CRT, Jiko's, Narcoose's, and Artist Point and the only one we will go back to is Jiko's.

CRT - Great location, REAL mediocre food.

Narcoose's - Great location for fireworks but rather noisy Good Food

Artist Point - Nice location and beautiful restaurant but we were not that impressed with their food. Now keep in mind that we are from Oregon. One of their signature dishes is Ceder Planked Salmon and we do that about once or more a month at home during the summer :slurp: Ergo their food may be a little too close to home.

Jiko's - Wonderfull flavorfull food in a nice setting with ever more fantastic Wines! nuff said ;)

My oppinion of Signature Restaurants...

Artist Point, California Grill, Narcoossees, Citrico, Jiko, Flying Fish Cafe
All worth the 2TS

Just remember that on the Basic DDP it does not include the appetizer, which can be one of the best parts of the meal at these places.

Signature Places that I would not suggest....
Hollywood Brown Derby
Cinderellas Royal Table
I guess it is not that I wouldn't suggest these, I just wouldn't suggest them while on the Dining Plan. It is a better value in most cases to pay out of pocket for these places, in my oppinion as far as dollar value, they barely reach the signature status.

Bistro de Paris - not included in any Dining Plans ... but how awesome

Victoria & Alberts - not included in any regular dining plans, but is included in the Platinum Plan. If paying out of pocket $125.00 per person and I think $60 for wine pairings. Also the only place to have a strict dress code.

.

Yeah, I will dip into the wallet for the apps, I do love apps! And that factors in I guess when you are talking value, I would be really curious to see what the numbers were of apps served in the World after they changed that rule.
I think to give the pastry chefs a break, and diners more choice They should allow the option of an app or a dessert. Heck I would even take it if they let you have one app or two desserts! Because I really don't have much of a sweet tooth.
