Well, even if they decided to close it all together, they would need to replace it with something. I really don't think Pirates and the carpet ride can hold up Adventureland alone. There really should be a 3rd attraction. (And yes, I left the tree house out intentionally). :)

Boooooooo! While it may not be a ride, I like the treehouse.

Both SM are virtual copies, except some effects differences.

Why would disney change to a ride that only lasted 8 years, based on a mildly successful franchise from another company? Wouldn't mission to mars be redundant with mission:space?

don't hold your breath with horizons unless you could finance it.

leave a legacy is going to be in front of epcot for another 16 years, nothing will change that unless a disgruntled employee bulldozes them over.

Previous landscaping in the innoventions plaza? disney added landscaping in the 90's, removing it would leave that plaza looking bare.

I've never been on DL's Space Mountain, but from what i can tell, it looks like Magic Kingdom's is more thrilling. The rocket-like single file cars appear to move in a more abrupt manner and there are more rather steep drops than Disneyland. What's special about Disneyland's? The only thing i can tell about it is that it looks a deal more comfortable to sit in.

The Space Mountain is considerably different and better in Disneyland

In a perfect world Mission Space wouldn't exist.

I know Horizons probably will never happen

The previous Innoventions plaza landscaping included water, find some old pictures online.

I didn't post that these things would happen....just said I was waiting..

There are plenty of differences in the two attractions. I can rattle off a few...

MK...Single file seating; DL...Two across -- Result, DL more comfortable with higher capacity on the one track, but MK has two tracks

MK...ambient sound effects/music; DL...onboard speakers and soundtrack -- Result, very diffierent audio experiences

MK...more abrupt curves and drops; DL...new smooth track -- Resut is a very different ride experience

MK...Space station props during ride; DL...space station model in launch area

MK...Semi-rehab a couple years ago; DL...complete rebuild about 5 years ago

...and I could go on forever

I happen to enjoy the MK version better. I like the sound effect set-up better, because it seems like you are passing the stuff making the sounds, rather than hearning the equivalent of a car radio. I also prefer the somewhat wilder ride and the worst of the movements (which could be painful) seem to have been fixed during the semi-rehab a while ago. But the DL version has an all-new track and better cars, and is preferred by a significant majority of people who have ridden both recently.

I haven't been out to dlr, so the information I got was from another source about them not being almost identical.

What is so wrong with m:s? Gary Sinise is in the intro video, he is a great actor.

This is the only picture I could find of the plaza before was this:

Hey I am waiting for an expansion of the monorail system, a 5th gate, nightly kingdom, bk and south america at dak, more countries and wol to reopen at epcot, and an expanded fl at mk but I doubt any of it is going to happen.

Next time you watch the video check out his eyes. You can see that he is reading his lines. No big deal as it happens all the time but it is still kind of funny.

actually......Gary tends to stare and go wide eyed alot...ever watch CSI NY? So I'm not sure if he's actually reading his lines...unless he is always reading lines on CSI as well. But then again the script writers on that show aren't the best...

This is not a stare, you can see his eyes going to the left and right through the longer monologues.

My wife and I rode SM at WDW right before they added the audio. I would have to say that the DLR version was way better prior to that. The DL track is smoother, the ride vehicle is DEFINATELY more comfortable, and the soundtrack is great. The WDW spaceship prop on the first hill is cool, and the interactive queue is cool, but the ride itself left me unimpressed. I watched a youtube video of the audio they installed and it looks like they did it on the cheap. As with California Screamin, the SM audio is synched to the ride and the music mimicks the dips and curves in the track. I believe it is radio controlled as well to make sure that the audio is perfectly synchronized (I recall hearing it skip ahead a bit before).

DLR has the photo as a surprise at the end rather than at the beginning before you have even started the ride. What is the point of having a picture then? Why not take it while you are waiting in line?

Finally, one other minor detail is that the DLR queue is less claustrophobic because it starts outside on the side of the actual ride building. You do not have to walk through an endless hallway like the one in MK.

TDO cheapens a ride? But I thought they lavish money on rides so lcd screens do not stop working after 3 years and speakers do not sound like they are from the 60's.

Have you not ever played roller coaster tycoon? it is hard to place those on ride photo sections after you have designed the whole ride.

I believe that the long hallway for wdw sm is due to SM being placed outside of the berm.
