Has anyone else run into an antenna topper bandit? It's happened to me once and my husband once. Park in a shopping mall or other large lot, leave the car with the antenna topper flying high, come back and some punk took your topper? Just curious if this is a problem all over or just in New York

It's all over. The DH had his stolen from the car parked outside our house...guess it was just the kids in the neighborhood. I solved the problem by
gluing it to the antenna

It is sad that people would steal such an item. Are we in that bad of times that people need to steal a $2 item, that serves no real use?

We're not going to make it, are we?

Not around here, or at least not to mine anyway but that doesn't surprise me. Though it is still sad that people resort to it...

Has never happened to me, but it has happened to my sister twice. The last time was just a couple of weeks ago. They pulled so hard trying to get it off that they took the little ball at the top of her antenna with it and now she has trouble getting some of her radio stations :fork:

I did the same thing... only mine was not due to theft (Although my brother is till mourning the loss of his Epcot topper that stolen) We drove under a low hanging branch and it whipped Ms. Minnie (That's what I call me topper LOL) right off her perch. I started screaming and made my husband go back. He is still getting over the fact he had to go back for $5 topper. Ms. Minnie makes the vehicle. :)

:ROFLOL: I know what you mean.

I was on the interstate one day last year and something flew off of a big truck and hit my antenna and actually knocked my Mickey topper off. I am not kidding you when I say that tears come to my eyes. :ROFLOL:As soon as I got home though, I called Disney and ordered a new one. I am like you, it just makes the vehicle! :D I have never thought about gluing it on there, but that's a great idea. :)

It has nothing to do with the value. It seems to me, at least where I live that society now has the mentality of if you want it, take it. We had christmas decorations stolen from our yard last year. Never before has that happened to us. I am pretty sure if we had a topper it wouldn't last long. That is why I don't by them. I know some jerk would take it.

My husband had a Grumpy one (the kids picked it out ) and it was stolen last week. I didn't think he be nearly as po-ed as he was.

As an aside - I can not believe people actually stole Christmas decorations. There's something wrong with that on so many levels!

That's the one I has as well! It's been on my car since Spring Break of 2007, our last trip.

Just wanted to add that when you put them on make sure you REALLY shove it down and make sure it's on tight. Even without glue it makes it hard to remove.

I got a NYYankees antenna topper as a gift last summer. I put it on my car, and two days later it was removed in the parking lot at work. Just yesterday, I noticed a car in the lot with the same topper...wonder if it's my thief?

Right now, Mike Wazowski is firmly attached to my antenna, and has been there for a year. My Disney toppers have never been taken.

And there seems to be a new craze, at least in Westchester County, for stealing or vandalizing Christmas decorations; it started two years ago. It usually turns out to be "bored" teenagers looking for thrills. Being middle-aged, I am hoping that I am gone before the world goes completely to hell, because it seems like that's where it's headed.

My Mickey topper was taken from my antenna the same day I put it on! It lasted about 5 hours. Man, the letdown I felt when I noticed it was gone. I hated it. And, when I see the same topper on other cars, I wonder either how long til theirs gets stolen or if it is mine. Now, my toppers are lining the top shelf of my desk.

Nah - your thief was probably a bitter Mets fan (or Red Sox!)

Not old, just vintage.
I gave up on my toppers. They were constantly getting stolen by my neighbors across the street or stupid people in the mall parking lot. I had a Figment one up there for a long time (I think mainly because no one knew what it was) but even that finally got stolen. Any typical Mouse shaped one gets stolen within a day or two. :brick: I think I am going to try gluing another Figment up there and see what happens. Any suggestions on what kind of glue to use? I don't want anything too permanent because I would like to occasionally switch to another topper when they get worn out.
