I am not trying to be mean spirited here but where exactly is the ride? I have not been following Sea World news so I am not fully up to date. Is this a walk through attraction or a track less simulator? If this is what Antarctica is all about it is not nearly enough for me to pay $80 on a single day ticket. sorry

Here is the thing peeps... The ride is only a SMALL component of the experience that is Antarctica! If you are just watching the POV video, you are doing yourself an EXTREME disservice.

The entire experience takes anywhere from 30 - 60 minutes depending on how long you mingle with the penguins in the end, but let me tell you that the ride only SUPPORTS the experience of journeying to Antarctica.

To pu tthis in Disney fan speak... imagine if you saw a video of the Tower of Terror that only included the drop... you would think that was short and kind of lame... with out viewing the 2 preshows, and going from the surreal to the real (animated to real penguins) it is hard to truly appreciate and understand this attraction.

It is an incredible EXPERIENCE.

I took it for a spin and posted my review in the Antarctica thread, but in a word disappointed. To further that, on a massive level.

What I expected from Brian Morrow's creative team was an experience that would transport me to the bottom of the globe and make me fall in love with the residents of the world's largest continent.

To say Antarctica is a "RIDE" is not fair, or accurate. It is an immersive experience that through various mediums, and one portion of the experience is a short ride, instills empathy, compassion, and respect for these incredible animals that survive and thrive in the harshest place on the planet.

The land, the queue, the pre-shows, the ride portion the animal habitat, all add up to a whole component that is an entire experience. If you separate out any one of these components, it feels empty and lacking, but as a whole it feels incredible, vast, awesome and wonderful.

Do you work for Sea World's PR department or something?

Like most on here, I am extremely disappointed for how this attraction turned out. I was one of those people who thought this attraction would give Disney a run for its money, but it didn't. So go ahead @articos, take a shot at me for having this kind of thinking. Do I regret making that assumption, absolutely not as I'd rather be there than at MSAN at MK. This attraction for me is very similar to how I view Under the Sea: Journey of The Little Mermaid. Both attractions have great no fantastic queues, both attractions use projections, and are overly hyped. Mermaid is a great ride to begin with only to leave you headscratching/disappointed at the end of the ride. Antarctica: Empire of the Penguin is the complete opposite as it sucks in the beginning only to end on a good note at the end of the ride. Loved the action scene with the sea otter/lion and Puck at the end. I love Penguins though and they are not uderused in this area. The rest of the land is fine though. The Glacial Connections merchandise store is nice and to me kinda reminds me of the Seas merchandise store at the end of the Nemo ride through. The Expedition Cafe looks to have some good eats at reasonable prices. South Pole beverages seems to have some good drinks (hopefully they have some good snow cones or popsicles or cold treats,etc.). Like how the Penguins are encarved on the rockwork there. But yeah, the big draw of this land is a letdown, so it gets a thumbs down in my book regardless of my love for Penguins or that it's an enjoyable ride (which for me doesn't cut it).

I loved the whole area, the rockwork etc.

Today's opening was crazy. I think Sea World's management was caught off guard by how many showed up. After talking with Terry Prather today they plan to place some type of shaded
covering up in Pacific Point. They really need that....a 3 or 4 hour wait is going to unbearable in the sun.

I try not to take shots at anyone! :) I don't think competition is a bad thing at all. I agree with most of what you said here, and have differing opinions on a couple things, notably the seal attack, which I think is tonally off and a bad choice. I'll put some more thoughts in more detail when I have some time.

I liked the penguin habitat better than the actual ride.

It's not worth waiting 3 or 4 hours for. Overall, they did a wonderful job. I wish the ride was longer. It needs a little more substance to it.

I've not watched any of the videos, but from what I've read, people seem to be disappointed by it. From the latest information I had read before opening, I was slightly disappointed that there seemed to be a lot of screens/video instead of seeing the actual penguins, but I don't know how much of that is true, as I am trying to avoid watching the videos so I am not spoiled for when I visit next year.

Queues have apparently been up to 7 hours today, with people complaining about a lack of information from SeaWorld staff about how long the queue is, and quite a few leaving SeaWorld without riding and going over to Magic Kingdom instead!

And, this was mentioned on another forum, but does anyone know why the police would be there today?
