Hi Everyone,

I thought that I would start this thread so we could discuss Antarctica: Empire of the Penguin which opens up this Friday, May 24th. What Does everyone think of the Antarctica Theme Song? What part are you most looking forward to.

Here is a little more information on Antarctica: Empire of the Penguin:
Interview with Mari Delgado at SeaWorld's A Voyage Near You Promotional Tour
Meet Puck the Penguin from Antarctica: Empire of the Penguin
First Look: Antarctica: Empire of the Penguin Coming to SeaWorld Orlando May 24th

And here's something special that I put together in promotion of the new land:

Antarctica: Empire of the Penguin Movie Trailer Show…

Do you think it will be soft opened on Thursday?

I don't think so but it's still possible, the only reason I say no is because they have media all morning and into the late afternoon. Then if its like any other project they do there will be a private party in the evening.

Quick Review from me,

I love the land, while on the smaller side it has top notch theming. Easily the best themed land at any Busch or SeaWorld park. The facade is beautiful and the preshow sets the tone very nicely. It's cute and innocent with a twist of danger is what I'm thinking right out of the gate. The interior queue is rather small and will probably hold a 30 min wait inside. I think the queue is also just phenomenal. Once you reach the split of wild or mild you then get ushered into a small preshow room. After this the doors open and you enter the load platform and onto the RV's. My favorite aspect of this entire expansion is the RV's, there just amazing.

Once we depart the RV's rotate, spin, and essentially dance with others as they group up to prepare to leave the platform as one. The ride itself is very colorful and will be popular with small kids. The ride is very short though, roughly 2:30 minutes with 4 scenes unless you count the load platform and exit, then it's six. The other downfall is we lose the story and I mean quickly. It's like this; greeting, formal introduction, dancing, dancing, dancing, danger, more dancing, singing with dancing, over. Its just like why was my RV just twirling about for 90 seconds, where is Puck?, is he dead?, just no info at all. I mean No explanation at all just done. But the ride overall is cute.

The penguin exhibit is top notch though and is instantly the best animal exhibit on site. SeaWorld has really thrown you into the animals habitats. Oh did I mention its freezing! It's 30 degrees year round in the exhibit and not something many will be able to stand for more than 5-6 mins. The overall land of Antarctica is a solid addition to SeaWorld and gives families another reason to visit this Summer.

Hi Everyone,

Now that we have seen the first few ride throughs of Antarctica, what are everyones thoughts on the attraction?

IMHO I think that it is a little disappointing, but hey! that's just me.

The beginning seems somewhat uninspiring. It's hard to tell how the motion of the vehicles plays into the ride. The swim through the water sequence did seem like a cartoonized version of Horizons to me, but the content leading up to that didn't really seem that good. Would have loved to see some Animatronics at the beginning.

I've only skipped around the video to get a general sense of the ride.

But the "abstract" beginning parts remind me of DL's old Adventures through Inner Space.

I didn't expect the ride to involve so much simulator-type screens. I guess based on the artwork, I thought the ride would be more about moving around areas with real penguins, like Kilimanjaro Safari moves around real animals. I thought that seemed unrealistic, since obviously they would want to maximize the viewing of the penguins for the observation areas apart from the ride.

So it's not the ride I expected it to be, but on the other hand, it looks better to me than Wild Arctic. It's a family-friendly ride, it's something else to do in the park, and -- maybe most importantly -- it's something else to do for those families who aren't inclined to ride Manta or Kraken.

Between Manta, TurtleTrek, and Antarctica, SeaWorld has improved considerably. But the park needs to continue adding...
