News Another Fight at Magic Kingdom

Dude, I've read trip report after trip report from regulars who have loved Disney for years (sometimes decades) and taken multiple trips, and they're all seeming to be struggling to find the magic right now. Avoiding the parks entirely, changing the way they tour the parks, spending hours in guest services because things went really sideways. It's hard to ride rides at Disney right now. It's hard to eat at Disney right now (although that might be fixed by now but man it was really difficult to get food on my last trip). It's hard to navigate construction at Disney right now.

It's totally fine to talk about these things. It doesn't make you not a fan. It doesn't mean you don't love Disney. Sweeping the bad under the rug and pretending it doesn't exist doesn't make you a better fan. It is what it is. Doesn't mean it will always be this way 🤷‍♀️

Well to be fair, it's not exactly easy to express any positivity on the boards (and elsewhere) as you will be pummeled into non-existence at the moment. 😂

Breaking point starts at airport with long lines delays cancellations all possible even before getting on the plane to FL.

Last time I was at the airport I watched a guy yell aggressively at another guy because he walked past him and accidentally hit the yelly guys foot with his bag. He was so loud and in his face the flight attendant picked up her phone and looked like she was about to call security, but he backed down. The guy just wasn't watching where he was going. He apologized profusely.

Fair enough. I’ve seen such posts for years now, long before the 2020 shutdown and all that came after it, but I take your point.

In the Parks
No
People are showing up expecting the crowds they see on TV commercials, and instead they're standing in line for an hour to experience a 5 minute ride. They're paying the equivalent of a house payment for tickets and they're only experiencing 1/2 to 3/4 of the parks' attractions. Food, even Counter Service, is super expensive to start with, involves another line to pick it up and then a line after that to find someplace to sit down and eat it.

I'm not insinuating anything -- I'm flat out calling out Disney's current penchant to over-promise and under-deliver for a premium price. That builds frustration in guests, and those with poor impulse control are going to snap under the triple threat of hot weather, expensive tickets and having to wait in line.

If you don't see it, you must be an elitist from California.
whether or not your point is correct bottom line to me usually nothing happens to people when this happens .... heck its happening in society already for way worse actions.. until real punishment for people pulling this cr@p its gonna keep happening. start making examples of these people and we should see some more constraint.

It's not OK, but if they have poor impulse control and they spent a house payment for tickets, and they're hot and sweaty, and had to wait in line for 20 minutes to get their popcorn, you might want to be prepared for some kind of altercation.

I'm sorry, but unless I'm defending myself from someone who threw a punch, there's no need. Just walk away...to get Security.

Several are making valid points. It's the individuals who take any disappointment, any challenge to their perceived "right", anything as a excuse or permission to engage in verbal or physical confrontation. That behavior and attitude is on them, not Disney.

And the poor CMs are smack in the middle, trying to both contain and reduce the confrontations.

Try doing that garbage at the airport risking missing your flight and arrest.

They are the ones ultimately responsible. But I don't remember this many altercations back in the 80's and 90's. I wonder what's so different now than then...
Violent and destructive behavior is on the rise in every single business setting in the US. What is happening at Disney parks is not occurring in a vacuum, especially one that can be attributed to the current customer experience in the parks.

Books being thrown at employees at Barnes and Noble, a fistfight in a Costco, parents attacking an umpire at a kids baseball game. All of these have a very specific commonality…people. And in almost every single case those people have had some type of history of similar behavior.

Secondly line cutting is not allowed period. That includes leaving the line and coming back into the line. Disney needs to be more strict with their rules.
this is flat out not true. on more than one occasion, i've been assisted with cast members when needing to take a child to the bathroom. they have pointed the way out for me and then helped me rejoin our party. leaving the line and returning is totally allowed.

WDW Security is not armed. It is an automatic termination to have a firearm on you including Security. That also includes if they find out you have one in your personal vehicle. Only people allowed on Disney property with weapons are on duty law enforcement which would include Orange County Sheriff's Office, Osceola County Sheriff's Office, and Florida Highway Patrol.

I thought Florida law a few years ago protects private firearms secured in your private automobile. Even if on your employer’s property?

I made damn sure the people I reported to Security and OCSO who showed up to our bus exactly what happened. They were given a ride courtesy of OCSO.

Agree. All you have to do is ask a CM nearby and they'll help get you out of line and back in.

How many of us have gotten in line and after 30 minutes realized we needed to go and couldn't wait.

That is correct. The only exceptions are schools, correctional institutions, nuclear power plants and any property leased or rented to conduct national defense, aerospace or homeland security activities.

Florida Statutes prohibit employers firing employees, who are lawfully allowed to possess a firearm, who keep a gun securely locked in their private vehicle in the company parking lot.

So when I tell a guest that their popcorn is $5 and they think that’s too expensive they can start throwing punches at me?
You continue to add leaps people are not saying.

You can acknowledge the contributing factors without saying they allowed or justified the outcome.

When a poorly designed road or intersection has more accidents at it than a typical intersection… it is still the driver’s fault for the accident but we can recognize and address the poor operational choices that have made accidents MORE LIKELY at that spot than others.

Not at all true. CMs are not trained that this is a rule. In fact, when I was a CM I always allowed people to leave and come back for bathroom emergencies or whatever they needed to do. It’s Disney, what was I gonna do? Say, “tough cookies, you left the line and now you have to wait until your family gets off the ride without you. Have a magical day!” My managers would have ripped me a new one if I did that to a family. Even if it’s a rule written on some obscure part of their website (is it? I don’t think it is) it is NOT a rule that Disney trains or enforces. I’ve yet to encounter a single CM who bars someone from catching up to their family already in line.
