Thank God. I don't want the band.
Incorrect, as of this moment. Card-style tickets will still be an option.I don't want the band either, but I've heard from a CM that once the bands are fully implemented, they will not be optional. No alternative card will exist. Your choice will be to wear the band or stick it in your pocket. Who knows if this will end up being the reality, but it is what I've heard.
No pictures ????
Ahh, gotchaNot MagicBands, RFID enabled passes (plastic card, similar to the current passes). Passholder change-out is in Epcot at Odyssey, the odd building between Test Track and Mexico. Other guest service locations may or may not be able to do the changeover also, but luck of the draw right now. Bands are still a little ways out.
I hate it when real life and work interrupts whats really important. Lol.Sorry, I'm restoring a netbook and have errands to run. Real Life, yo.
Kind of related, but a dude I follow on tumblr posted this gifset:

I'm assuming that's what the cards look like.
My boyfriend is disappointed to hear this. So just Mickey Minnie Donald and Goofy?Picked mine up over lunch. Rain kept people away, but there were at least 10 computer operators set up at tables ready to do transfers, possibly more. Also switchbacks which weren't yet in use (it was a nasty morning here), but they clearly anticipate a crowd. Had a choice of any of the main Fab 4 (sorry Pluto fans).
Heard another guest complain that you can't use the new pass right away for FastPass, because it doesn't register as "in the park." I guess you'd have to leave and come back through the turnstiles with it.
Apropos of nothing, but it was lunch--if you haven't tried that spring chicken pancake from the China stand (i.e. "the Chinese taco"), you are missing out!

ALSO: Do they confiscate or deactivate your old card? Because I was just thinking about how if there were people running around with both of their tickets, if you didn't have to re enter with the plastic one, to use FP.Yes. At least for now. Unscientific assessment of the stacks of cards I saw: Mickey > Donald > Minnie > Goofy.
I thought of that, too. The day you get the new one, you can get an extra FP or two, lol.ALSO: Do they confiscate or deactivate your old card? Well my boyfriend and I are going to Epcot to pick our cards up, then straight over to MK, so I don't think we'll be able to enter the park twice that way. The card only works for FP if you've entered the park with that card. Regardless, I'm not too worried about it, and even if you could theoretically cheat the system, I wouldn't.I thought of that, too. The day you get the new one, you can get an extra FP or two, lol.
And there ya have it, folks. They don't return your old ticket
