Annual Passholder Lounges?

If I recall, the Nestle lounge was converted into the AP lounge in The Land for a short time. But it was removed because Nestle wanted it back. At least, that is the reason that was accepted when it was removed. I'm not sure if there's any truth to that though.

I can't think of too many places I'd rather have for an office :D That's my idea of the perfect view. Actually the SE lounge is pretty cool too, TT too I guess.

Where did they go! There used to be one above the Land, and they gave out free soda, fastpasses and even let us watch movies!
Don't forget the characters from the Garden Grill used to visit sometimes! I was up there working with Chip and Dale the one time...have a picture of Dale reading the newspaper up there!

Maybe if they were mentioned to AP holders a little better.

I am a AP holder and not once have I seen anything mentioned about them (other than on these boards).

Did they ever "tell" APholders about these...anywhere in the parks?

Disney does not technically loose money giving out coke in AP lounges. Disney, to my knowledge, recieves their coke products for free (as well as Kodak). This may be malarky, but it is how I've come to understand it.

Now, they may loose money in the sense that now that person won't buy a coke, but that is debatable in an ap lounge setting because I don't think you could assume people there would go out and buy a coke if it wasn't being offered in the lounge.

I heard they were being abused. I mean abusing their privileges. One AP holder bringing in many people who weren't passholders. I guess it only takes a few to misuse it and they take it away from everybody.

"Beverly" is an italian word for "syrup of Ipecac." :slurp:

Brian: I never received anything in the mail about the AP lounges nor do I recall seeing anything written in the park brochures. Only thru this forum did I even know they existed. I visited one in Epcot and thought it was a great place to cool off and have a drink without the crowds. We were there alone for almost a half hour before another family came in.
At the time, I remember reading somewhere that the lounges were experimental as an incentive for people to buy annual passes and as a perk for current holders. Apparently, the experiment didn't work but I highly doubt it had anything to do with free drinks. :(

Maybe it had to do with people not spending money in the gift shops because they were in the Lounges. :D

Now...if they put a gift shop at the EXIT of all the lounges...

The lounges were mentioned in the AP mailings. That is where I learned about them.
While the Coke products may be free, the staff was not.

I probably missed it, Gail. I don't automatically renew my annual pass when it expires to avoid losing 10 months until I next visit. There may have been something in newsletters that I didn't get while I wasn't an active member.
I now seem to recall something about the AP Lounges in one of the Disney magazines but it was already old news and the AP lounges disappeared shortly thereafter. :veryconfu

We looked for the AP lounge in the Animal Kingdom and were told it was closed that week. I think you're right, Gail, it was most likely a staffing issue that did them in. :(

I don't auto renew either, and for the same reason you mentioned. Guess I just got lucky with the one I did receive telling of it. We were there just a few days before they closed them, I believe back in Sept. 02.

The Land corporate lounge is partially used for a green room for the characters in The Garden Grill as well as used for training classes for CMs. There are offices up there as well. It's old and quite dirty up there. You aren't missing much.
Now, I imagine they are. In years past they were a nice location for AP holders to go get a break and cool off. It really is a shame that they are gone and gone for good.
